(OAKLAND, CA) &emdash; The California Cable
Television Association (CCTA) today announced that,
effective immediately, the new name of the association will
be the "California Cable & Telecommunications
Association."
On November 28, the association will unveil its new logo
on its Web site and at its annual convention, The Western
Show, by Bill Rosendahl, VP for Political Affairs, Adelphia
Communications, and CCTA's Chairman. The name change follows
similar recent actions by the National Cable &
Telecommunications Association (NCTA) and several state
associations.
"Changing our name simply reflects the reality that the
cable industry in California provides much more than just
video entertainment services," said Spencer Kaitz, CCTA's
president. "It's appropriate that we should announce the
name change at The Western Show," he added, "since there's
no better place to see, hear, learn and demonstrate the
voice, video and data services provided to customers over
cable broadband."
The CCTA is the cable industry's largest state cable
television association, representing nearly 200 cable
systems serving more than 6.5 million cable television
customers.
