Notable Chef, Thomas Keller Shares Insights to
Success
"What does it take
to be one of the best in the business," says Gary Sunkin,
News Director of TVInews. Thomas Keller, owner of
distinguished restaurants such as The French Laundry and
Bouchon in Yountville, California and Bouchon in Las Vegas,
as well as Per Se in New York City. Keller will talk about
the insights and advise about his own success. Immediately
after his speech, Chef Keller will be available to
personally autograph his books, The French Laundry
Cookbook and The Bouchon Cookbook. Supplies are
limited so be sure to arrive
early!
Also attending the
event from TVInews will be Josie Cory, Priscilla
Stubblefield, and Troy Cory-Stubblefield, publisher of

for the Fourth Annual Culinary and Pastry Trophy organized
by The Academie Culinaire de France. Six finalists will
compete to represent the United States of America
in The International Culinary and Pastry Trophy in
Paris October 2006. The winner will be announced at Expo on
August 22.

Bartending
Competition
Not just your run of
the mill drink mixing! Get set for theatrics, high
energy and jaw dropping thrills as local bartenders mix up
their concoctions. Contestants are judged on
showmanship, speed and accuracy as they compete for cash
prizes and the chance to be in the National Championship in
November.
CRAEF Hall of Fame
Reception and Dinner, Saturday, August 20, Fairmont
Miramar
The CRA Educational
Foundation (CRAEF) has announced that this year's Hall of
Fame Dinner will be held at the luxurious Fairmont Miramar
Hotel, overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Santa Monica at 101
Wilshire Blvd. The event will take place on Saturday, August
20, following the opening day of the
Show.
Each year, the CRAEF
Board of Directors recognizes talented individuals and
companies for their dedication to foodservice industry
education. Inductees into the Hall of Fame are also leaders
who exemplify the foodservice industry's highest standard of
achievement and professionalism. This year's Hall of Fame
Inductee's are: Mr. Andrew Cherng and Mrs. Peggy Cherng of
Panda Restaurant Group, Inc. The Restaurateur of the Year
award is going to Mr. Ralph Rubio, of Rubio's Restaurants,
Inc. Mark Peel of Campanile Restaurant will be
recognized as Chef of the
Year.
The Hall of Fame
Dinner is the largest single event CRAEF hosts for the
purpose of raising funds for its scholarship program. The
event also honors CRAEF scholarship
winners.
