37th Week 2005 / Pete
Allman's Celebrity Scene -- Las Vegas
Music Awards Alliance debuts at Clark County Community
College
For the first time ever, Las Vegas
received its own musical award show, which debut at the
Clark County Community's Horn
Theater.
The opening ceremonies begun with the
Nellis Airforce Honor Guard honoring our country, followed
by the National Anthem performed by Christal
Ray.
The event got off to a slow start,
but presented some very invigorating musical acts. DaFuture
a group of young rappers received the "Best Hip Hop Group
Award". They were not only entertaining, but they gave their
thanks to their parents and
God.
Other awards are as follows: Best
Male Vocalist went to Lewis Carter; Best Hip Hop Artist was
received by Kanary; with Best Female Vocalist going to Leah
Villanueva; and Best Vocal Group going to
Syrenz.
The LVMA Platuim Signature Award went to Yard Out
Entertainment. During the show, we spoke with Jazz of Dru
Hill and actor Kei Mitchell about their visions for LVMA's
future. "This opportunity gives kids who have never had a
chance to showcase their talents a right setting. You never
know who is going to see you at these award shows stated
Jazz."
Kei Mitchell went on to say "You've got to study your
profession and you have to be innovative." During the awards
presentation there was special appearances from Stone an Neo
Soul artist, Critical Kondition, Stix, Jluve and Christal
Ray.
Az Yet performed songs off their new CD The Return,
which included their Hard To Say I'm Sorry. Their advice to
anyone entering the music business is to attend music
seminars and hone your craft; "Another way to market your
music states Daryl is to have an infomercial produced for
cable TV. Take your commercial and sign with a Fulfillment
house. The Fulfillment house takes the 800 calls and mails
out your product." What Daryl was talking about made artists
like Slim Whitman and Pete Lemonjello. In fact a lot of your
Old School groups who can't get record contracts market
their CDs on television. This is a sure way to build a track
record proving the salability of recording artists. After
all, the record company isn't going to sign anyone for the
most part unless they have a track
record.
The 2005 Las Vegas Music Awards also presented Kool
and The Gang The Legends Award which was received by Amire
Bayan who also received Record Breaker Award. Jamal Williams
who manages Kei Mitchell and Jazz received The Management
Award. The Songwriter Award went to Angie Irons with the
Music Educator Award going to Sheila
Ferguson.
The Star Achievement Awards were presented to the
following: Kansas Callie for Independent Artist; Christal
Ray for Debut Artist; Stone for Recording Artist; The
Chapter for HipHop Artist and Stixs for The Platinum
MC.
Andre Banks the producer and director of LVMA
anticipates building this event into a nationalized live
telecast, which he says, can help build the city of North
Las Vegas as well as Las Vegas.
