The Pasadena Tournament of Roses
is a volunteer organization that
annually hosts the Rose Parade
presented by Honda, Rose Bowl
Game presented by VIZIO and
various associated events.
The 122nd Rose Parade presented
by Honda, themed Building Dreams,
Friendships & Memories, will
take place Saturday, Jan. 1,
2011, at 8 a.m. (PST) featuring
majestic floral floats,
high-stepping equestrian units
and spirited marching bands.
Following the parade, the 97th
Rose Bowl Game presented by VIZIO
will kick off at 2:10 p.m. (PST)
and feature an exciting match-up
between two of the top collegiate
football teams in the nation. For

reclassification proposal would
not give the FCC power to control
prices or demand
line-sharing.
Rate
regulation and line sharing are
off the table," FCC Chairman
Julius Genachowski said, during
the recent Cable Show in Los
Angeles, where he defended to a
skeptical audience the FCC's
recent decision to partially
reclassify broadband providers as
common carriers under section two
of the Communications Act. The
FCC chief pledged to retain a
light touch over broadband
regulation, after a court ruling
last month threw into doubt the
agency's authority.
The top U.S.
communications regulator said,
"government and broadband
providers can find a solution to
overcome industry fears of
potential heavy regulation of the
Internet."
There's still a lot of
detail to be hashed out here, and
the proposal must be opened to
public comment and then receive
approval from at least three of
the five FCC Commissioners.
Genachowski appears to be trying
to please everybody -- which may
or may not work.
Again, the debate is open
to policy makers for years to
come -- but it appears that the
FCC is trying to find some kind
of middle ground between
carriers, who of course would
love an FCC that had no authority
of any kind and consumer
advocates (who want a tough
regulator on the go crafting new
regulations).
The key is to drive
greater broadband adoption.
"Getting people to adopt
broadband is as near win-win for
the government and the industry
as I've ever seen," Genachowski
said.
He insisted that his
proposal explicitly would not
give the FCC power to control
prices or demand
line-sharing.
Rate regulation and line sharing
are off the table," Genachowski
said.
The problem is that the
recent court case Comcast brought
against the FCC and decided in
favor of Comcast damaged the
legal foundation supporting
everything the FCC would like to
do to promote broadband adoption,
which Genachowski said the FCC
has been articulating clearly all
along.
The Comcast decision, he
said, doesn't change the FCC's
aims or policy goals at all. The
question, he said, "is how do we
get back to a solid legal
foundation to do what we want to
do &endash; and not more. We
reject both extremes. One extreme
is to do nothing. The other is to
implement all of Title II"
&endash; the provisions in
telecommunications law that give
the FCC very broad and intrusive
control over telephony.
He said that the "third
way" approach is to pare down
Title II to only those provisions
that allow the FCC to encourage
broadband adoption. "Our staff
has developed a narrow approach
with barriers against regulatory
creep, and regulatory
over-reaching, and gets us to a
legal foundation similar to where
we were before the Comcast

unveiled MyNABShow Mobile.
WASHINGTON, DC -- NAB Show
organizers unveiled today a new
mobile app that will provide
attendees with NAB Show
information, delivered directly
to their handheld device.
MyNABShow Mobile, the official
NAB Show smartphone application,
will provide users with unique
features that include interactive
exhibit floor maps, social media
interaction, and the ability to
download exhibitor brochures. The
mobile app, powered by Core-apps'
Follow Me service, is sponsored
by StreamTheWorld and available
free of charge for all smartphone
users attending the NAB Show,
April 10-15 in Las Vegas.
MyNABShow Mobile will allow users
to build and import their show
schedule directly, providing
attendees with a personalized
lineup of sessions and events.
The app also provides a listing
of all of the NAB Show speakers
and exhibitors. Apple iPhone
users will have access to an
interactive exhibit floor map,
making it easy to identify their
location and find exhibiting
companies in their vicinity. The
mobile app is available for the
Apple iPhone, iPod Touch and
Blackberry. Other smartphone
users will have access to a free,
mobile Web-based application.

The festival headquarters will be

Theaters between October 30th and
November 5th, and then move to
the seaside for screening in
Santa Monica presented in
association with the American
Film Market (AFM). The Hollywood
Roosevelt returns as the
festival's host hotel.
Each fall, AFI FEST presents a
survey of the year's most
significant films. Featuring
international work from emerging
filmmakers, global showcases of
films from the great masters and
red-carpet gala premieres, AFI

Founded in 1981, the American
Film Market (AFM) has grown
steadily to become the premiere
global marketplace where
Hollywood's decision-makers and
trendsetters all gather under one
roof. Unlike a film festival, the
AFM is a marketplace where
production and distribution deals
are closed. In just eight days,
more than $800 million in deals
will be sealed &emdash; on both
completed films and those that
haven't started shooting yet
&emdash; making AFM the
must-attend industry event.

The Loews Santa Monica Beach
Hotel and the Le Merigot Beach
Hotel are converted into a busy
marketplace. All 23 screens on
the Santa Monica Promenade and
the surrounding community become
AFM screening rooms for the
entire eight-day event and eight
digital and video screening rooms
are added just for the AFM.
Participants may view more than
900 screenings of approximately
500 films - 31 new films every
two hours - the majority of them
world or U.S. premieres.
Titles range from big budget
blockbusters that will be
released by the major studios in
the U.S., to lower budget art and
genre films recognized at
international film festivals, all
destined for theaters and
television around the world.
With 8,000 attendees, 900
screenings, and seminars
programmed by leading industry
organizations, the American Film
Market continues to be the
pivotal destination for
independent filmmakers and
business people from all over the
world.

Walt Disney Company, Michael
Eisner has, for four decades,
been a leader in the American
entertainment industry. He began
his career at ABC, where he
helped take the network from
number three to number one in
primetime, daytime and children's
television with such landmark
shows as Happy Days, Barney
Miller, Rich Man, Poor Man, and
Roots.
In
1984 Michael assumed the position
of Chairman and Chief Executive
Officer of The Walt Disney
Company and, in the ensuing 21
years, transformed it from a film
