Part 02 / EPress Release Archieves - 2001

look PR-16 - Stamford, CT - CABLEready, the international program distribution and development company based in Stamford, CT, has acquired worldwide distribution rights to three non-fiction series from Indianapolis-based Creative Street Productions

The shows, to be introduced at NATPE 2001 this month in Las Vegas, include:
Reality/Health - NURSES ON DUTY, the first reality series ever to focus on the often overlooked role of this vital health profession. The 13 proposed half-hours, available in fall 2001, include true stories of nurse heroes, health tips and information and tie-ins to a dedicated interactive Web site.

  • Reality/Nature - WILDLIFE JOURNAL, showcasing the role of game wardens in their real-life adventures as protectors of natural resources, enforcers of public safety laws, and response to emergencies like wild animal control, toxic spills and natural disasters.

Already a success in U.S. syndication, CABLEready is offering 48 half-hours available immediately.

Crafts/Collectibles - COUNTRY SAMPLER: ON THE ROAD, bringing the appeal of crafts/collectibles shows to television. Geared toward the female demographic and produced in alliance with Country Sampler and Country Marketplace magazines, the 13 half-hours will feature on-location interviews with artisans and celebrities.

As part of its agreement with Creative Street, CABLEready is also offering ROARING THROUGH THE CENTURY, a one-hour sports history special on the Indy 500 auto race and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

  • "Creative Street shares our commitment to quality non-fiction television,

and we're looking forward to working with them to expand distribution," said Gary Lico, president and CEO of CABLEready Corp. "The Creative Street shows are also extremely compatible with our other programming. WILDLIFE JOURNAL, for example, would be a great lead-in for our forensic reality series, WILDLIFE DETECTIVES. " CABLEready is the industry's premiere independent program representation firm with clients located across the globe. Established in 1992 to represent existing program libraries and to develop original program ideas, CABLEready provides more cable networks with licensed programs than any other program distributor.

  • look PR-15 / NATPE - January 22 - 25, 2001
"Disappointment Diaries", "To Kill With a Song" and
Troy Cory's China Harbin "Live" Webcast,
    Offered To NATPE TV Programmers

In Addition to "Disappointment Diaries" and "To Kill With a Song", VRA has inked with web telecaster, LookRadio, for two new 1-hour special episodes of the Troy Cory's China Harbin "Live" Webcast, co-produced in China by China TV, House of Blues, Media 100, Terran, QDesign, TVI Magazine, China Expo 2000, Eine Traum Produktion, and Firewire Media. The Show was video taped in August, 2000, in Harbin, China.

Lookradio will continue its own "To Catch A Song" format franchise, with 24 segments to be produced for next year, and VRA has agreed to distribute the "V-Music" programming format.

"Disappointment Diaries, and the Kill With a Song format programs, ("D-Diary" and "C-Song"), -- could become valuable weapons, for both the independent TV broadcaster, and the new breed TV webcaster, who wish to go international", said Bernie Schwartz, President and CEO of VRA TelePlay Previews, the program distribution and development company based in Universal City, California.

  • "Proven to drive audience and demo numbers up on the web, D-Diary and "live" C-Song formatted shows, embrace all of the essentials necessary to make entertaining television. The format includes great music, timely topics, interesting characters, killings, war, history and is told in a "Tongue in Cheek"- "Whodunit?" fashion."

Whether in the form of a reality or a forensic program, LookRadio's own D Diaries is available on the web daily by -- Video On Demand, (VoD) -- and To Kill With A Song. The D-Diary format is creating high rating hits on the web, "because the shows are broken down to 3 to 6 minute segments -- which enables the broadcaster to play any segment they wish -- at any time of the day - to fill in idletime.", said Bernie.

There's no reason D-Diaries, which are available on the web "live", utilizing its S90tv system, or: by streaming the (VoD) content, To Kill With A Song, in the D-Diary format, could not create big ratings for indie TV stations, "because the shows are broken down to 3 to 6 minute segments -- which are short, sweet and entertaining", said Bernie Schwartz.

The valuable weapons Disappointment Diaries, and To Kill With a Song' offer, include Mel Carter, Dennis Weaver, Joey Adams, Sam Butera, Pete Allman, James Brown, Troy Cory and the real historical footage of Ronald Reagan, Mao Zedong, Jiang Qing (Moa's wife), Deng Xiaoping, Jiang Zemin, and Zhu Rongi. The series, in part, were co-produced by Shanghai TV, CCTV, Beijing, Bohemia Film, Markiza TV and Bratislavia Produktion. -------------------

  • Part 03 /More
The China Harbin Troy Cory webcast was webcast "live" on August 12, 2000 by: LookRadio; House of Blues; Yahoo; BreakTV.com; wwbc.net; Media100.com; Terran.com; Barnetwork.com and the People's Republic of China's, CCTV. Over 300 million people viewed the TV show in China.

Discovery and A&E get their highest numbers on nights with forensic programming, and TLC has seen increases in both households and demos as a direct result of forensic program scheduling.

In the U.K., the top spots on the documentary charts were all filled by forensic programs this past fall, Forensic Detectives on Discovery, ranked #1 and CABLEready's Medical Detectives took the #3, 4 and 5 spots in September, and kept the 3rd and 4th spots throughout October.

VRA/TeleKey's goal is to be the industry's premiere web program representation firm with clients located across the globe. Established in 1976, to develop Video Record Albums' Laser Disk programming, VRA, with its TelePlay Preview Series, provides more webcasters with licensed programs, than any other program webcast provider.

Selected Episodes, with limited TelePlay rights, can be purchased for $39.95 on Amazon.com in the VHS, DVD category.

  •
  • InterTrust and QDesign to combine DRM and audio technology for a secure,
  • scalable music solution that supports rights-managed content for download
  • and streaming
  •
  • February 14, 2000, Santa Clara, CA and Vancouver, BC - InterTrust
  • Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ: ITRU), the MetaTrust Utility(tm), and
  • QDesign Corporation, a leading provider of digital audio compression
  • technologies, today announced a technology partnership for the use of
  • QDesign's audio codec technology in MetaTrust-Certified(tm) audio
  • applications. The partnership is aimed at developing a DRM-enabled, scalable
  • audio format for digital streaming applications. Further, QDesign and
  • InterTrust will work together to integrate DRM technology into the Windows
  • version of the recently released MVP audio/video player, a cross-platform
  • (for MacOS and Windows) software application for recording and playback of
  • digital music and videos.
  •
  • Adding the QDesign high quality, scalable audio codec to the growing list of
  • DRM-enabled audio formats (MP3, AAC, and others) will result in more digital
  • music commerce options. Music player companies will have more DRM-enabled
  • development options. Content owners will have extensive control over how
  • their music content is promoted, licensed, and sold without the need to
  • re-purpose content each time new distribution and business models are
  • introduced. Consumers will have greater choice in DRM-enabled music players
  • as InterTrust and QDesign work to integrate DRM into the audio capabilities
  • of the MVP player, with the goal of becoming another MetaTrust-Certified(tm)
  • audio player.
  •
  • The QDesign audio codec technology is optimized to produce high quality
  • audio at data rates as low as 1.0 KB per second. The combination of
  • scalability and quality of the QDesign audio technology allows a singled
  • encoded source file to serve a broad range of music products and services,
  • from music download to personalized streaming Internet radio. The
  • "on-the-fly" scalability allows QDesign encoded audio to automatically fit
  • to available storage (i.e., up to 5 times more audio than standard MP3 files
  • on portable music players) as well as dynamically adapt to available
  • bandwidth for Internet streaming.
  •
  • "InterTrust provides the most comprehensive DRM technology for all digital

  •
  • "InterTrust seeks to provide the broadest selection of codec technology
  • support for audio and video possible," said Talal Shamoon, vice president of
  • technology initiatives, InterTrust Technologies Corporation. "The QDesign
  • audio codec technology offers a level of scalability and extensibility in
  • quality and control that complements InterTrust's DRM platform well. The
