Diego Corrales (40-3-33
KO's) of Las Vegas has the heart of a lion and was
totally ready on June 3 for his third fight against
Jose Louis Castillo (54-7-6,47 KO's) of Mexicalli,
Mexico. Corrales at the age of twenty-eight has
fought as a pro for ten years and is a three time
world champion.

In his first fight with
Castillo on May 7, 2005, Corrales scored a tenth
round TKO in a WBO-WBC Title Unification Bout.
During that fight Corrales was knocked down twice
early in the round, gained extra time to recover
after each knock down by dropping his mouthpiece.
The fact is however that he displayed heart and
courage to win the fight.

Jose Louis Castillo, a
bigger fighter has had problems making weight;
especially for the fight that never happen on June
3rd. The thirty-two year old Castillo who has been
a boxing pro for more then fifteen and one half
years has been fighting at 135 lbs for five years.
His one punch knock out over Corrales on Oct. 8th,
2005 was controversial at a time when he didn't
make the 135 lb weight limit.

Both fighters have had their
share of problems. Corrales who was scheduled to
fight Castillo on Feb. 4, 2006 had to postpone
their meet-up due to a rib injury he suffered. Now
at the fault of Castillo, another canceled fight.
The fight that never was giving the boxing world a
slight bruise.

Top Rank and Gary Shaw
Productions in association with Wynn Las Vegas and
Caesars Palace may have been disappointed over this
complication, but nevertheless had a pretty good
fight card which was held at the Thomas and
Mack.

The 12 round IBF World Fly
Weight Championship had Vic Darchinyan (26-0-21
KO's) of Sydney, Australia take on Luis Maldonado
(31-1-25 KO's) of Ocotian, Mexico and win the title
by knocking out Maldonado in 1:08 seconds of round
8.

A ten round super
welterweight bout had Yuri Foreman (21-0-8KO's) of
Brooklyn win by a unanimous decision over Jesus
Valverde (22-12-16KO's) of Mazatlan, Mexico. This
was a fight that had Valverde frustrated. Valverde
came to fight which Yuri Foreman did more dancing;
evading the pressure of Valverde; but Foreman
scored numerous times giving him the victory.

Cristina Kwan of Las Vegas
made her professional debut in a four round Mini
Fly Weight bout against Valerie Rix (4-0-1KO) of
Orlando, Fla. Rix, who obviously has more
experience, caught Kwan with a couple of good
punches when both fighters had a heated exchange in
round one. Kwan was knocked out in 48 seconds of
round one..
