07 - ITN Purchases vizrt Solutions to Create New
Graphical Look for the UK's Upcoming General
Election. Key UK election to benefit from
vizrt's real-time broadcast graphics
software
New York, NY, May 14, 2001: ITN, the UK's
largest dedicated commercial news
service, has completed the purchase of a
viz [virtual studio]TM and viz
[live event]TM system in time for
the UK's heavily anticipated general
election.
The general election, called for June 7th
2001, is one of the most important
and complex broadcasting events in the
UK. To create a new look and feel to
their programming for this major event,
ITN has opted for the industry
leading viz [virtual studio]TM
and viz [live event]TM systems. viz
[virtual
studio] is a real-time virtual studio
and 3D graphics system and viz [live
event] is a dedicated control system
for a single live event.
Commenting on the purchase, Kevin
Morrison, Special Projects, ITN, pointed
to the vizrt software's template-based
set-up and ability to instantly
automate newsfeeds, as major benefits,
"There were a number of key
performance criteria that we were looking
to fulfil," he explained. "Not
only would the system have to be robust
and easy to use, but it also needed
to be able to support the automation of
data feeds and help us build data
rich presentations from templates,
quickly and easily.
"The UK General Election is a significant
event, but with a difference over
ballots from many other countries. The UK
has one of the most widely watched
elections around the world, as it has a
significant impact on relations
within Europe and with the USA.
"We aim to have the best election
programme in 2001 and one of the key
elements will be its look and feel.
Therefore, we have opted for the vizrt
systems which are clearly market leaders
and will help us deliver the
richest and best looking system for this
big event."
Greg Petroff, vizrt VP Marketing, said,
"Following so closely behind the US
presidential election, the UK election
has particular strategic significance
in 2001, so interest will be extremely
high in this event. The real-time
capabilities of the viz [virtual
studio]TM and the dedicated graphics
control capabilities of viz [live
event]TM make these products match
perfectly the brief from ITN. We are
delighted that our system has been
chosen for such a prestigious
broadcast."
For the General Election ITN has
constructed a 225 sq metre blue screen
studio using four individually tracked 3D
cameras. The studio will host an
imaginative range of real-time graphics
including a photo-realistic model of
the interior of the British Parliament.
Throughout the eight hours of live
coverage the graphic scenes will be
dynamically updated from an on-line
election results database, drawing the
viewer into the unfolding political
drama.

JVC
ANNOUNCES DEVELOPMENT OF OBJECT VIDEO CAMERA
IN STRATEGIC COOPERATION WITH 3DV SYSTEMS
Las Vegas, NV (NAB, April 23-26, 2001) --
JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY in
strategic alliance with 3DV Systems, Inc.,
have combined technologies to offer a
professional camera with never before
possible real time production
capabilities.
The new camera product is the result of an
integration of 3DV's ZCAMTM object camera
with JVC's KY-D29 digital signal processing
camera. ZCAM, the world's first real time
object studio add-on offers never-before
possible production capabilities which can
extract objects from the scene and separate
between the foreground and background without
the use of blue-screen in TV studios or on
location. The ZCAM technology enables
real-time broadcasts of video enhancements
and special effects that could previously
only be created during post production such
as blue screening.
Designed to meet the demanding
requirements of the professional production
and post-production markets, ZCAM object
camera enables operators to capture and
manipulate 3D data in real time. ZCAM object
camera delivers an impressive range of
advanced features that open up a new realm of
production possibilities. Configured as an
add-on to JVC's renowned KY-D29 studio
camera, ZCAM object camera empowers operators
to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
Real-time separation of foreground and
background
The KY-D29/ZCAM object camera enables the
real-time separation of an object from its
background. Utilizing depth keying rather
than chroma keying, the KY-D29/ZCAM depth
camera enables real-time imaging without the
use of blue screen compositing. In this
application, foreground elements can be shot
against any background, and displayed against
selected backgrounds.
Implementation of 3D effects
The KY-D29/ZCAM object camera captures and
maps the third dimension. As a result, users
can place objects in various positions in a
scene &emdash; such as before or behind other
objects &endash; in real time. Users can also
implement special 3D effects in real time
including illumination, augmentation of the
3D scene, and interaction of real and virtual
objects, among others.

Systems Announces Availability of ZCAMTM at
NAB2001
The
First Object Video Camera Component Released
for Use in the U.S. Market
SANTA CLARA, CA
&endash; April 23, 2001 -- 3DV Systems, the
leading developer of object video chipsets,
today announced at NAB the world debut of
ZCAM, the first color studio camera add-on
which can extract objects from the scene and
separate the foreground and background
without a blue-screen. For use in TV studios
or on location the ZCAM technology enables
real-time broadcasts of video enhancements
and special effects that could previously
only be created during post production.
"We're excited to be
able to offer the ZCAM's unique capabilities
as a production service to a select group of
high-end broadcast and production studio
customers here in the U.S.," said Ori Braun,
CEO of 3DV Systems. "The ZCAM has evolved
into a powerful, feature-rich product since
we first demonstrated it as a prototype. We
think it has real potential to revolutionize
the broadcast industry."
3DV's ground
breaking, object video technology enhances
every video frame with an additional frame
known as the Z-Buffer. The Z-Buffer adds a
corresponding frame supplementing the color
information found in the video with depth
information.
The ZCAM will be
demonstrated hourly April 23 - 26 in Booth
M10219 at NAB2001. 3DV will reveal how ZCAM
can segment a video scene into separate
objects and enhance the production value with
background replacement (without the use of
blue-screen), allowing the director selective
color correction, in real time, and include
the use of computer graphics live while
filming, anywhere in the scene.

Broadcasters New Dimension in
Financial Reporting 04
New
York, NY, April 12, 2001: With the
help of vi[z]rt, a leading
provider
of fully integrated
broadcast graphics and virtual studio
solutions, the New
York Stock Exchange
has launched a new broadcast studio giving
reporters
access to a virtual
trading floor with live market data for
inclusion into
financial
newscasts. Dubbed NYSE MarkeTrac Live, the
virtual set provides
financial
broadcasters and viewers with a truly unique
view of the
Exchange's auction
market and the latest market information in
an exciting
and innovative
way.
NYSE MarkeTrac Live
employs the vi[z]rt virtual 3D
technology platform
enabling the
advanced graphics and display capabilities of
the Exchange's
recently introduced
NYSE MarkeTrac web product. This powerful
solution
offers individual
investors an online experience and access to
market
information that no
other market provides. The NYSE initially
implemented
the vi[z]rt
3D graphic solution in March 1999 in its
Advanced Trading Floor
Operations Center
(3DTF), running on Silicon Graphics®
Onyx2® systems. It
enables the
Exchange personnel to monitor trading floor
technology and
operations. This
center was produced in conjunction with SIAC
- Securities
Industry Automation
Corporation and integrates continuous trading
data
streams into one
advanced three-dimensional system that is
displayed on nine
25-inch
monitors.
Each day during NAB
2001 held in Las Vegas from April 23-26, the
Exchange
will provide
multiple broadcasts from the NYSE MarkeTrac
Live sent to
monitors in
vi[z]rt's booth (Sands Convention
Center #S4147). In addition,
the NYSE will offer
a NYSE MarkeTrac Live demonstration at
vi[z]rt's press
conference
scheduled at vi[z]rt's booth (#S4147)
Monday April 23rd, 6pm
(PST).
"NYSE MarkeTrac is
a breakthrough product for broadcasters and
investors,"
said NYSE Group
Executive Vice President Robert G. Britz.
"With MarkeTrac
Live, reporters are
able to connect viewers to the trading floor
and to
point-of-sale in a
highly visual, interactive and truly dynamic
experience.
Reporters will find
that the advanced 3D graphics and easily
accessible data
displays makes
on-air navigation easy and
interesting."
MarkeTrac was
developed on Silicon Graphics (NYSE: SGI)
Onyx2
supercomputers.
Greg Estes, Vice President and General
Manager,
Telecommunications
and Media, SGI, believes that this project
demonstrates
the innovative
applications made possible when
vi[z]rt software and SGI
hardware are paired
together. "The combination of
vi[z]rt's intuitive and
highly flexible
graphics software and SGI's powerful graphics
hardware makes
for the most
dynamic real-time presentations imaginable.
This interactive,
virtual trading
floor ushers in a new era of news coverage
from Wall Street.
It is fitting that
this development comes from the NYSE - the
world's
leading equities
marketplace."
"NYSE MarkeTrac
takes the 3DTF to the next level," according
to Shlomo
Nimrodi,
vi[z]rt President and CEO. "The 3DTF
and NYSE MarkeTrac are
important
milestones for vi[z]rt. This project
enables us to leverage our
technologies into
the exciting market of visual communication
to
corporations", said
Nimrodi. "We are proud of this on-going
collaboration
between
vi[z]rt and the NYSE".
Other value-added

Gives New Look to Flagship Newscast at South
Africa's Premiere
Private
Network, e.tv
New York, NY, 2 April, 2001: South
Africa's premiere private network e.tv,
based in Johannesburg, has recently gone
on air with a complete vi[z]rt
solution for it's hallmark news
broadcast. The enhancement of the
graphic
look is done with the real-time broadcast
graphics system, vi[z]TM. This
marks vi[z]rt's first major
installation in Africa and the first
installation of a turnkey system based
solely on the NT based open PC
platform version of vi[z]. The
third largest network in South Africa,
e.tv
required a solution for rapid production
of professional graphics for its
live news and weather programs.
The vi[z] TM broadcast graphics
system is being used with three other
vi[z]
software modules; vi[z] mapsTM
for 3D geographical mapping,
vi[z]
modelingTM for real-time creation and
rendering of 2D and 3D graphics, and
vi[z] content pilotTM for content
management and scheduling.
"The vi[z] software solution has
given our new one-hour news program a
slick
and professional look," said Quraysh
Patel, Channel Director, e.tv. "It
lets us easily and quickly create visuals
for stories even when we do not
have real footage to illustrate them.
Additionally, vi[z] maps
absolutely
makes our weather coverage. After using
the vi[z] software and seeing
just
what it can do, I am convinced that we
made the best choice of graphics
packages available."
Patel also points to the service he's
received from vi[z]rt as another
reason for his confidence: "I have yet to
come across another company that
gives the efficiency, depth of service
and consideration that vi[z]rt
has
provided us. They've met every
requirement and every deadline we've set
out. The vi[z]rt engineers came
through with extraordinary service under
very demanding circumstances. Our
engineers were fully trained and
operational within one week and are now
training other staff at e.tv."
"This deal represents an important
milestone for vi[z]rt," explained
Petter
Ole Jakobsen, vi[z]rt Executive
Creative Developer. "It was our first
installation in Africa and the first time
we've installed a complete turnkey
system based only on an NT based open PC
platform version of our software.
I'm extremely pleased with the solution
we provided e.tv and with their
level of satisfaction. Customer
satisfaction is always a key measurement
of
our success, and we are delighted that we
have met all of e.tv's
requirements within deadline and below
budget."

///
New York, February 27, 2001
- vi[z]rt (Neuer Markt, VIZ), previously
known
as RT-SET (Neuer Markt,
RTZ), a leading provider of fully
integrated
broadcast graphics and
virtual studio solutions, today reported results
for
the fourth quarter and the
full year ended December 31, 2000.
The company also announced
the official approval by the Israeli registrar
of
the name vi[z]rt. On
the Neuer Markt the company's ticker changed to
VIZ
from RTZ.
Financial Highlights for the Full Year ended
December 31, 2000 were:
¨ Consolidated revenue up by 187% to
$18.75 million ($6.56 million, FY 1999)
¨ Gross margin increased to 48% (39%,
FY 1999)
¨ Operating loss, excluding
restructuring, acquisition and in-progress
R&D
write-off, was $8.0 million ($5.99 million,
FY 1999)
¨ For full year 2000, the company wrote
off $16.5 million of in-progress R&D
in Q1 and Q3 combined. Net loss for Full
Year 2000 was $34.8 million ($6.2
million, FY 1999)
¨ Loss per common share for the year
ended December 31, 2000 was $3.04
($1.47, FY 1999)
¨ Pro-forma Loss per common share
excluding restructuring, acquisition and
in-progress R&D write-off, for the year
ended December 31, 2000 was $0.61
Commenting on the results, Bjarne Berg,
vi[z]rt's Chairman, said, "I am
pleased with the results. The strong revenue
growth and gross margin
development are evidence of the successful
execution of the revised business
model, following the Peak acquisition. In
particular, the speed of
integration of the two companies has been
very impressive and enhanced
vi[z]rt's ability to lead the
revolution in the broadcast industry while
expanding into New Markets."
Shlomo Nimrodi, President and CEO, added,
"We have transformed the company
to a complete solutions provider, covering
the entire work-flow management,
addressing the challenges arising from the
convergence of different media.
Our market reach has increased, not only
within the broadcast sector but
also within other markets that require rich
media experience. Another
development we have witnessed was strong
repeat sales, attributable to the
high quality and reliability of our expanded
product portfolio. "
Mr. Nimrodi continued, "In addition, we
expect to achieve cost synergies,
amounting to approximately 10% of our
operating costs, resulting from the
restructuring of our company. These
synergies will be realised from the
first quarter of 2001 onwards. With our
increased market reach, our product
portfolio and our strong R&D and Sales
force, we are in an excellent
position to rapidly grow the business,
further improve our margins and in
this way enhance shareholder value"
He concluded, "We are a new company set out
to realise our vision. It is
therefore that I am very pleased to have
received the official approval of
our new name, further symbolised by our
ticker change to VIZ. We continue to
execute on our strategy, which is to:
¨ Leverage our technological leadership
to increase our share and
penetration of the broadcasting market
¨ Increase recurring revenues by
extending high margin after sales services
¨ Build on our existing technology to
expand into new markets
¨ Continue developing our primary and
secondary distribution channels
We expect that these measures will result in
increasing the top line while
keeping the cost base increase to a minimum,
bringing us to profitability in
2001."
Operating Highlights for Full year 2000
were:
¨ Acquisition of Peak Broadcast
Systems: enabling vi[z]rt to become
the
provider of fully integrated broadcast
graphics solutions (as compared to
RT-SET, which was a one-product company),
the result of which has already
had a very positive impact on the second
half of 2000.
¨ vi[z]rt continued its global
expansion with the complete hiring and
training of 15 direct sales representatives
and the opening of a Tokyo
office: Other distribution channels were
developed likewise.
Revenues generated from deals with the
broadcasting industry are impacted by
major industry trade shows traditionally
scheduled for April in the US and
September in Europe. It is therefore
expected that the stronger quarters
will be the second and the fourth of the
year.
