TV EXECUTIVES CELEBRATE AT NATPE - Brandon Tartikoff
NAPTE, National Association of Television Program Executives, held their annual convention at Mandalay Bay last week. One of the highlights of the event was Emmy Award winning producer, Steven Bochco receiving the Legacy Award. Named after the late TV executive Brandon Tartikoff, one of the medium's respected programmers, The Brandon Tartikoff Legacy Awards were created to recognize TV professionals who exhibit passion, leadership, independence and vision in the process of creating television programming. A colleague, as well as a close personal friend of Tartikoff's, Bochco says, "Being named as a recipient of The Brandon Tartikoff Legacy Award isn't so much a professional recognition as it is a personal and emotional one. Our business has changed so much in the years since he has been gone that those of us who knew him and worked with him value him even more today then we did then." Steven Bochco celebrated hits include, 'Desperate Housewives' along with 'Doogie Howser', M.D., which he co-created. He was also known for the innovative musical drama, 'Cop Rock', as well as multiple awards winning N.Y.P.D. Blue.

In making new challenges, he continues to push television's creative boundaries. Bochco developed 'OVER THERE', a hard edge military themed series set around the US invasion and occupation of Iraq in July 2005 for the FX network. Currently he has a contract with Touchstone Television developing and executive producing a number of projects that include, 'Commander In Chief', the companies new highly rated drama series staring Geena Davis as the first female President of the United States.
