Lyon was changed into the teenager that he is
today: a 15-year-old piano player and composer of
emotional and soulful piano music that he shares
with his friends, family, and the world.
Produced by Lyon's piano instructor, pianist and
maestro Ethan Dong, the healing story of Sapphire
is told in the form of an ancient style allegorical
tale, complete with emcee/narrator Addison Witt as
Helios, the Greek god of the Sun. While Lyon's
compositions are the true characters of the tale,
Sapphire uses music and dance to convey a positive
message about overcoming the darkness with light
and reaffirming life.
Lyon and his family had their share of darkness
four years ago when 17-month-old infant Anya
drowned in the family pool. The devastated family
remained in deep mourning for a long time. Then
Lyon began to compose music that released his
emotions and helped the other members of the family
to heal and come back to life.
As Lyon says, "All my pain came out through my
fingers." The Lazare parents formed the Anya
Foundation, which has as its mission the message of
child safety. They are even creating a tracking
device for small children to wear.
Sapphire will feature Lyon on a red 11-foot grand
piano (one of three of the largest pianos in the
world by Pearl River) along with 8 other grand
pianos playing at one time.
At his debut public concert at UC Irvine's Barclay
Hall March, 2006, Lyon also set a Guinness world
record, for the youngest composer (14 at the time)
to play his own compositions live with 25 other
pianos and a 20 piece string orchestra.
Tickets for Sapphire range from $25 - $35 and can
be purchased from a Tickets.com call center (888)

office (323) 461-3673. Ford Amphitheather, 2580
