The
Art World of Jonathan Winters
By Donna Jeffries & Larry Leverett of
"Hollywood Beat"
-----The
Andrew Weiss Gallery of Beverly Hills recently
hosted a VIP Reception for "The World of Jonathan
Winters". The highlight of the evening was the
first exhibition of drawings, paintings and prints
in thirty years from this extraordinary comedian
and entertainer.
-----
Winters is well-known for
his hilarious stand up comedy routines, his popular
hit TV show "The Wacky World of Jonathan Winters",
and various acting roles in films such as "Moon
over Parador", "The Russians Are Coming, The
Russians Are Coming", "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad
World", "The Flintstones", and "The Adventures of
Rocky and Bullwinkle".
-----
Actress Barbara Rush who was
also at the reception and looking fabulous as
always, approached Larry with a big hug and hello.
Gary Owens who is famous for his role as the disc
jockey on the classic comedy TV show "Laugh In",
was also on hand for the festivities. Owens and
Winters have a special DVD they collaborated on,
which is set to be released in January, entitled
"Gary Owens and Jonathan Winters at the
Improv".
-----
Winters also has a new film
out called "Swing", co-starring Jacqueline Bisset,
and Tom Skerritt. "The World of Jonathan Winters"
exhibit will continue at the Andrew Weiss Gallery
through November 22, 2003.
Thirtieth
Anniversary of "Paper Moon"
By Donna Jeffries & Larry Leverett of
"Hollywood Beat"
-----Hollywood's
Vista Theatre was the site of the thirtieth
anniversary celebration and special screening of
the film "Paper Moon", starring Ryan O'Neal and his
daughter Tatum O'Neal. Tatum won the Oscar for Best
Supporting Actress for her role as the sneaky
little, con-artist Addie.
-----
Larry, who was on hand for
the festivities at the Vista Theatre, managed to
catch up with (former "Hollywood Beat" guest)
Oscar-winning director Peter Bogdanovich.
Bogdanovich, who directed the 1973 film, was
invited to contribute his hand and foot imprints in
the special cement display in front of the
theatre.
-----
The Vista Theatre is quickly
becoming the Grauman's Chinese Theatre of the new
century with its impressive collection of celebrity
hand and footprints. All in all, the event was a
smash success. MORE
