Michael
Jackson Dies,
50. Fans gather outside
pop singer's home
- June 25,
2009.
About a dozen reporters and
photographers were gathered
outside Michael Jackson's rented
Bel-Air home this afternoon as a
news helicopter hovered above.
Several tourist vans also stopped
by the house just off Sunset
Boulevard as tourists snapped
photos of the large, black
wrought-iron gates adorned with
two large wreaths decorated with
red ribbons.
Tourist Sue Mossell, 46, and her
two sons, Ryan, 7, and Jimmy, 12,
who were visiting from Georgia,
were among those milling outside
the house, which was blocked from
view by trees and shrubbery.
Mossell said the family was on a
star tour the day before that
included the Jackson house and
decided to drive back this
afternoon after hearing the
news.
"I was in shock," she said. "I
mean, who hasn't heard of Michael
Jackson? I think we're going to
hear a lot more of his
songs."
Another tourist, Angelina
Winkvist, 28, who was visiting
from Sweden, said she also took a
tour a day earlier that stopped
by the Jackson house and rushed
back today after hearing that
Jackson had been taken to the
hospital.
"It's huge," Winkvist said of
Jackson's death. "He's one of the
biggest stars in the world."
A neighbor, Roxana Radnia, 21,
said she had no idea the pop star
was living at the house. She said
she always saw cars parked out
front and had worried about
possible drug activity. Radnia
said she was walking her dog,
Maddie, about 1 p.m. today and
saw three ambulances outside the
house and a lot of commotion.
"I didn't know what was going
on," she said. She said she was a
big fan of Jackson and his music
and had been looking forward to
his comeback tour.
"He's amazing," she said. "I
can't believe this happened."
[Updated at 4:35 p.m.: Karina
LeBlanc, 29, a member of the Los
Angeles soccer team Sol, who
lives a block from Jackson's
Bel-Air house, said she drives by
every day on her way to
practice.
She said she saw Jackson once as
he and his entourage were
arriving at the house. LeBlanc
said she heard helicopters
hovering above the neighborhood
this afternoon and turned on her
TV to find out what was going
on.
She said she was deeply saddened
by the news. She said her soccer
team always listened to his music
before a game, particularly the
song "Man in the Mirror."
"He's got the beat," she said.
"His music is so riveting and
inspiring."
She said the news was especially
distressing because Jackson had
gone through such a tough time in
recent years. Still, it was hard
to believe that he was dead, she
said.] -- Anna Gorman

"This
is
It" This
Is It was a planned series
of 50 concerts by Michael Jackson
to be held at the The O2 arena in
London. They were scheduled to
begin in July 2009 and continue
through March 2010. Less than
three weeks before the first show
was due to begin and with all
concerts being sold out, Jackson
died of a cardiac arres, on June
25, 2009.
Jackson
promoted the concerts by
appearing at a press conference
on the arena site. AEG Live, the
concert promoters, released a
promotional video that took up an
entire commercial break, setting
a record for ITV.
The
shows were to be Jackson's first
major series of concerts since
the HIStory World Tour finished
in 1997, and had been cited as
one of the year's most important
musical events. Over one million
people would have attended in
total. Randy Phillips, president
and chief executive of AEG Live,
stated that the first
10 dates alone would have
earned the singer approximately
£50 million. Originally 10
concerts were announced, however
public demand resulted in a 50
date sold out residency. Ticket
sales broke several records and
AEG Live stated that Jackson
could have sold more dates.
The
O2 arena has stated that full
refunds, including all ticket
service charges, will be
available to those who purchased
tickets through authorised
agents, but that "fans will have
the option to be sent the actual
tickets they would have received
to attend the shows in lieu of
the full refunds which are being
offered."
Sony
Pictures has won the bid for the
Michael Jackson rehearsal footage
that was taped days before
Michael's death. They reportedly
paid a cool $60 million for it.
It was reported that Sony will
release the footage in film
version in October. So, fans will
get to see some of what they
might have seen had Michael lived
and had they attended his "This
Is It" concert tour.
Before
London there were rumors of a
Michael Jackson Show in Las
Vegas.
Anyone
with a television or internet
connection in the past few years
has been unable to miss out on
the controversy surrounding
Michael Jackson, but it is
exactly this controversy that may
lead to a Michael Jackson show in
Las Vegas. A company called
Colony Capital has bought out the
loan on the infamous Neverland
Ranch, which means Jackson now
owes Colony Capital $23 million
in debt. This is where the
Michael Jackson Vegas show comes
in-Colony Capital owns the Las
Vegas Hilton as well as a major
share of the Station Casinos,
which includes popular locals
spot Red Rock Casino. What better
way to repay a loan than to put
the King of Pop back on
stage?
While
there is currently no guarantee
of a Michael Jackson show in Las
Vegas, talks are in progress for
repayment options and the Michael
Jackson Las Vegas idea is on the
table. Venues could range from
casino concert space to even a
nightclub. Like other acts and
shows that have made the
transition to Vegas headliners
(Celine Dion, Elton John, or even
the musical Phantom at the
Venetian), it's certain that the
already glitzy pop star would be
further glitzed into a
ninety-minute show in the Las
Vegas fashion. Controversial
recent history or not, a Michael
Jackson Las Vegas show would be
incredible and perhaps a perfect
fit for Sin City. Michael Jackson
tickets everywhere tend to go
quickly, as will tickets for this
show if it becomes reality. Keep
an eye out and get your Michael
Jackson tickets early!

Michael
Jackson was showing "signs of
cracking up" shortly before he
died over his forthcoming
concerts he was due to perform in
London, it has been reported.
According
to a psychiatrist's report quoted
by The Sun newspaper, the
singer's behaviour was
increasingly erratic, with his
mood swinging from an "almost
manic" excitement about the tour
to silence and staring into
space.
A source
close to the investigation into
his death reportedly told the
paper that Jackson was "clearly
not mentally or physically
equipped to cope" with the
50-night performance schedule at
the O2 Arena.
"Michael
was always adamant the show must
go on - to the point where he was
obsessed with the idea he would
be 'killed' if he couldn't go on
stage," The Sun quoted the source
as saying.
"He had
been backed into a corner and was
falling apart under the
strain."
The
psychiatrist reportedly saw
Jackson twice. On the first
occasion, he told investigators
that he spoke openly about his
turbulent childhood, his
addiction to painkillers and his
belief that his skin cancer was
"God's punishment."
On the
second occasion, on June 12, the
psychiatrist reportedly felt
"deep concern" about Jackson's
health and raised it with other
medics, including his skin
surgeon Dr Arnold Klein.
He said
Jackson had refused to show him a
small cancer surgery scar on his
chest and clammed up as he
outlined a programme to wean him
off painkillers.
"Michael
had been candid at their first
meeting, but showed clear signs
of cracking up when he saw him
again," the source told The
Sun.
"They
discussed if it would be possible
to cancel or postpone the
gigs."

Trivia:
In an 1981 interview, he told a
LA Times reporter, "My real goal
is to fulfill God's purpose. I
didn't choose to sing or dance.
But that's my role, and I want to
do it better than anybody else. I
still remember the first time I
sang in kindergarten class. I
sang 'Climb Every Mountain,' and
everyone got so excited.
