October
4 - Inaugural MIPCOM 2010 World
Premiere TV Screenings open with
Lionsgate's "Mad Men" and "Running
Wilde"
Paris, 31 August 2010 &endash; Reed MIDEM
today announces the first MIPCOM World
Premiere TV Screenings on October 4 in
Cannes, France. The event opens with cast
members attending a special screening of
Lionsgate's multiple Emmy® Award
winning "Mad Men" and the international
debut of "Running Wilde."
"We
are delighted to introduce the MIPCOM
World Premiere TV Screenings as a premium
showcase for leading television and film
companies to screen outstanding programmes
to the most influential buyers, industry
players, and international media from over
100 countries," says Laurine Garaude,
Director of Reed MIDEM's Television
Division.
The
inaugural event, to be held in the Palais
des Festivals' prestigious Grand
Auditorium, is open to all MIPCOM
delegates and will present an unaired
episode from the 4th season of Lionsgate's
smash hit drama "Mad Men." MIPCOM's
exclusive screening will welcome cast
members of the acclaimed series which won
the 2010 Emmy® Award for Outstanding
Drama Series and Outstanding Writing for a
Drama Series. Created and executive
produced by Matthew Weiner, "Mad
Men" airs in over 100 countries
worldwide and is broadcast in the United
States by AMC where the 4th season
launched in July 2010 to stellar
ratings.
Following
the pilot debut at this year's recent LA
Screenings, the premiere will be preceded
by the first international preview of the
second episode of Lionsgate's new romantic
comedy, "Running Wilde." From
the Emmy Award-winning creator and the
star of the critically acclaimed FOX
series, "Arrested Development," "Running
Wilde" stars Will Arnett ("Arrested
Development," "30 Rock") as Steve Wilde, a
filthy-rich, immature playboy trying
desperately to win (or buy) the heart of
his childhood sweetheart, Emmy Kadubic
(Keri Russell, "Waitress," "Felicity"),
the über-liberal humanitarian who got
away &endash; all told through the
perspective of a 12-year-old
girl.
"Running
Wilde" is produced by Tantamount Studios,
Five Hole Pictures and Principato-Young
Management in association with Lionsgate
Television. The series is written and
created by Mitch Hurwitz, Jim Vallely
("Arrested Development") and Will Arnett.
Hurwitz, Vallely, Arnett, Eric Tannenbaum
("Two and a Half Men"), Kim Tannenbaum
("Two and a Half Men"), Peter Principato
("Reno 911!"), Paul Young ("Reno 911!"),
Anthony Russo ("Arrested Development") and
Joe Russo ("Arrested Development") serve
as executive producers.
"MIPCOM
World Premiere TV Screenings offer the
ideal platform to preview, launch and
raise awareness for the shows that
audiences will be watching in the year to
come," adds Garaude.

SIMPSONS, the longest-running
primetime TV series in history, is
celebrating its 20th anniversary at MIPCOM
2009. In partnership with Twentieth
Century Fox Television Distribution which
handles international distribution for the

to mark THE SIMPSONS global success
over the past two decades.

success, its longevity and its migration
across all distribution platforms on
October 6, the same day they participate
in a Fox International Press Conference
for THE SIMPSONS.
"The irreverent humor of 'The
Simpsons' has traveled around the
world. It is a remarkable example of a
show that for two decades has combined
creative richness with huge commercial
success without compromise. We are proud
to be a part of the celebration of this
truly global television phenomenon," said
Laurine Garaude, acting Director of Reed
MIDEM's Television Division.
"We are excited to have Matt and Al

Keynote

Pinder, Chief Operating Officer, Publicis
Worldwide delivers the Advertising Keynote
Monday, October 5:
"CONTAGIOUS IDEAS
THAT CHANGE THE CONVERSATION"
The way to build business in today's
challenging world is to generate more
positive conversation. It's no longer
about how much you pay, but about how you
can drive traffic through in an-built
audience of advocates. Traditional media
advertising may not deliver this in the
traditional way.
We don't know each other. For the
last 15 years I have not needed to know
anyone in television nor them me.
But in this brave new world content
providers need agencies just as much as
agencies need content providers.
Content providers are not by nature
brand centric. They are centred around
their own products and properties, and
their own areas of discipline expertise.
Agencies are by nature aggregators and
overviewers and need people to create
ideas without having to worry about how to
produce them. The only way to do this is
to surround an agency with an ecosystem of
content companies that can provide
professional expertise wherever the idea
may lead. Agencies are never going to own
these; they have to work with them.
So its time for us to get to know
each other and change the conversation
between us, just as we must for our
clients brands!

Perez Dolset, President & CEO, Zed
Worldwide will give a keynote on Thursday,
October 8: "Multiplatform Entertainment:
How to Monetize Content When the Game has
Changed?"
"MOBILITY OF
CONTENT"
The rules of the game have changed.
Content will remain king but how to make
money out of it when advertising revenue
shrinks, piracy grows and follow-the-free
is becoming a paradigm for both Mobile and
Internet platforms? Many consolidated
players are struggling to survive in a new
environment where scale and global
franchisees are no longer enough.People
want to watch, play, talk, learn, share
and compete no matter whether they are at
home or on the move, and whatever the
technology behind the different
devices. 03h

A
h h h . . . Fall in Cannes
no matter if it's in the Spring or Fall,
there's the mild breezes' blow as the warm
Mediterranean sun smiles over this
beautiful spot on the Cote d'Azur. There
you can feel a timeless sensuality,
assuaging a nostalgia for the
Mediterranean which since as far back as
the 16th century has been a constant theme
in many a Northern European's
life.
"Now give us lands
where the olives grow," Cried the North to
the South, "Where the sun with a golden
mouth can blow blue bubbles of grapes down
the vineyard row!" Cried the North to the
South. (to borrow a phrase from the
English writer Elizabeth Barret
Browning).
"Cannes," wrote
Charles Lentheric, the indispensable and
erudite historian of maritime Provence, in
1880, "is a town where you feel no need to
work," and "where the inhabitants were not
interested in the world that lay beyond
their shady gardens, or the sheltered
balconies of their hotels."
Now the world has
come to Cannes, chosen it to be their
Mediterranean queen for its annual events,
and when you stroll along the Croisette on
some warm April day you will hardly share
Mr. Lenteric's sentiments. Voila! Cannes!
It has emerged so
cosmopolitan.
