108- NewsCorp Split - Wirless Vs. Print
66rupertmurdoch108web.jpgNews Corp. Chairman Rupert Murdoch details plans to split company
News Corp.'s board of directors voted late night, June 27, 2012, in favor of a proposal that would separate the media conglomerate's publishing assets from the rest of its entertainment holdings.
•••• Publishing has become a handicap for News Corp., in the wake of a devastating investigation into the phone hacking scandal in London.
•••• In a teleconference in the morning of June 28, News Corp. Chairman Rupert Murdoch outlined plans to split the the media conglomerate's publishing and entertainment operations into two publicly traded companies, a decision he hailed as "the next transformative phase" in his empire's history.1987tvicovermurdoch300w.jpg
"The decision by
the board of directors,
culminated three years of planning," Murdoch said. Separating the film and television assets from its news and book publishing groups would unlock the value of each for shareholders, and allow these disparate businesses to continue to grow.
•••• The breakup of the company represents a historic move for founder Rupert Murdoch, who built the global media powerhouse from a single newspaper in Australia. In past years, Murdoch has firmly opposed any plans that would separate the publishing group from the rest of the media company.
•••• He said the difficult choice to sever the company's news and book publishing businesses from its film and television operations culminates three years of planning. The restructuring, which he hailed as a transformational milestone for News Corp., is intended to unlock value for shareholders, who are attracted to the company's lucrative entertainment assets.
•••• During the teleconference, Murdoch said, "We've come a long way in our journey that began almost 60 years ago with a single newspaper operating out of Adelaide. I'm convinced that each of these new companies will have the potential to continue their journey and prosper long as independent entities into the future."
•••• Under the plan, the media and entertainment company would consist of 20th Century Fox film studio, the Fox broadcast network, and the company's cable TV group, including Fox News and FX. The online television service Hulu (partly owned by News Corp.) would also be included, as well as the company's home satellite operations.
•••• The global publishing company would comprise News Corp.'s newspaper holdings, among them the Wall Street Journal, New York Post, the Sun in Britain, as would its HarperCollins book publishing assets.
•••• News Corp. founder, Murdoch (81), presented a spirited defense of News Corp's newspaper business, known to be a longtime passion of his.
•••• He said "the standalone publishing company would have a strong balance sheet and be free to pursue investments to grow the business." "The opportunity is so big its single-minded pursuit is the best approach. Our aim is nothing less than this: to create the most ambitious, well-capitalized and highly motivated news and publishing company in the world."
•••• Completing the separation could take up to a year, and would require final board and shareholder approval.
•••• Murdoch would serve as chairman and chief executive of the media and entertainment company, and as chairman of the new publishing entity. News Corp. COO, Chase Carey would continue in that capacity for the entertainment business.
•••• Investors have reacted positively to news of News Corp.'s reorganization, driving up the company's stock 11% since initial reports June 26.
•••• Wall Street for years has asked for News Corp. to shed its newspaper holdings. CLICK FOR MORE Rupert Murdoch

101- Cars Land at Disney California Adventure - June 13-15, 2012  By Gary Sunkin
ANAHEIM, Calif., - In a colorful grand reopening ceremony hosted by Bob Iger, chairman and chief executive officer of The Walt Disney Company, along with his pal Mickey Mouse, Disney California Adventure Park welcomed guests Friday to the premieres of two highly anticipated themed lands, Cars Land and Buena Vista Street, home to the Carthay Circle Theatre. The ceremony celebrated more than 20 new attractions and shows that have been added to the Disneyland Resort during a five-year expansion.
••••
The ceremony was held in Disney California Adventure in front of the iconic Carthay Circle Theatre on the new Buena Vista Street, which transports guests to the California that attracted Walt Disney in his early days as an animation pioneer. Ceremony highlights included music, fireworks and a flood of Disney and Disney•Pixar characters, including Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Pluto and Donald Duck.
•••• The icon of Disney California Adventure, the Carthay Circle Theatre, is a majestic building at the end of Buena Vista Street that recalls, in name and architectural style, the great California movie palace where "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" premiered in 1937.
•••• Guests now enter Disney California Adventure through another lively and richly detailed land, Buena Vista Street. The newly themed and designed entrance brings the spirit of Walt Disney into the park as never before, immersing guests in a locale reminiscent of Los Angeles in the 1920s, a time and place full of hope and optimism. With its familiar shop names, period costumes and architecture, Buena Vista Street is inspired by the "city of dreams" Walt Disney found when he arrived by train in California.
••••
The Red Car Trolley, based on Los Angeles' historic Pacific Electric Red Car Line, transports guests from Buena Vista Street down Hollywood Boulevard, to the footsteps of the famed Hollywood Tower Hotel, home to The Twilight Zone™ Tower of Terror.  Street characters and entertainers such as "Five & Dime" add to the lively fun along Buena Vista Street, engaging guests as they step back in time.
••••
The expansion of Disney California Adventure, announced in 2007, has produced a succession of new entertainment and attractions.
••••
• Toy Story Mania! opened in 2008, inviting guests into an interactive, ride-through, attraction where they enter a 4-D carnival midway hosted by characters from the Disney?Pixar movie "Toy Story."
••••
• "World of Color," the nighttime water spectacular, debuted in 2010 and the popular show has been seen by more than 5 million guests.
••••
• In 2011, the park reached its next milestone with the premiere of The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel's Undersea Adventure, a ride-through attraction based on the Disney animated classic movie.
••••
• Additional highlights include new entertainment such as "Phineas & Ferb's Rockin' Rollin' Dance Party," new restaurants such as Paradise Garden Grill, and the enhancement and re-theming of such attractions as Mickey's Fun Wheel, Games of the Boardwalk, Silly Symphony Swings and Goofy's Sky School.

•••• Disneyland Resort is Gearing up for the Grand Opening of Cars Land, Buena Vista Street, & Carthay Circle Theatre, celebrating these special festivities, and all the attractions, entertainment and experiences added during a 5 years expansion.
InsideTheMagic.net next you can get a comprehensive look at the completion of some of the most exciting years in Disneyland history.
From Toy Story Mania to Cars Land -
A fold-out set of Disneyland poster postcards wrap up five years of upgrades in media invitation.
Disneyland Resort will top off its impressive five-year, $1 billion+ Disney California Adventure upgrade project June 13-15, 2012, with a grand press event celebrating all of the new attractions completed throughout the Anaheim resort.
•••• An imaginative reminder of just how much has been accomplished during this historic time has been sent as an invitation to select media outlets, Inside the Magic included, for the June 13th-15th event. Though these events will be closed to the public, including the entirety of Disney California Adventure on June 14, Disney folks will be there to offer an inside look at it all, beginning with the invitation itself.
•••• To sum up all of the new magic added to the Disneyland Resort since 2007, the special event invitation came as a fold-out set of postcards, each featuring a different attraction poster artistically representing a ride or other source of entertainment that has recently made its debut.
Let the Memories Begin.
•••• The idea that Disneyland Resort has chosen to use postcards to represent the completion of the large-scale renovation is rather apropos considering that it is the postcard-themed entrance to Disney California Adventure that has been made over into Buena Vista Street, also debuting on June 15.
The attraction poster postcards are:
•••• Radiator Springs Racers, Mater's Junkyard Jamboree, Luigi's Flying Tires, Carthay Circle Theatre, Red Car Trolley, Mad T Party, The Little Mermaid - Ariel's Undersea Adventure, Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, Mickey's Soundsational Parade, Goofy's Sky School, Disneyland Hotel pool, World of Color, Silly Symphony Swings, Magical fireworks show, Mickey's Fun Wheel, Toy Story Midway Mania, and Pixar Play Parade.
•••• And for anyone wanting to get their hands on these postcards, -- while the postcards were created exclusively for these media invitations, Disneyland Resort will be offering some of the same poster art for sale as greeting cards.
DISNEYLAND RESORT ATTRACTIONS:
Radiator Springs Racers - A Leisurely tour springs along the historic Route 66 and turns into an all-out race for the piston cup.
• Mater's Junkyard Jamboree
Everyone's favorite tow truck, tow mater, has corralled a herd of runaway baby tractors in this junkyard where guests will be invited to "tow-si-do" with these cute little critters.
• Luigi's Flying Tires
Reminiscent of the classic Flying Saucers attraction from Tomorrowland at Disneyland Park, circa 1961. Luigi's Flying Tires features sports car loving character from "Cars" at home in this tires store.
• Red Car Trolley
Red Car Trolley is based on Los Angeles historic Pacific Electric Red Car Line. The red car trolly links Buena Vista Street to Hollywood Blvd. inside Disney California Adventure Park.
• Mad T Party

101- Intimate Recordings of Music Legends Donated
Joe Smith Donates Recorded Interviews with Music's Who's Who to the Library of Congress
•••• More than 25 years ago, retired music executive Joe Smith accomplished a Herculean feat -- he got more than 200 celebrated singers, musicians and industry icons to talk about their lives, music, experiences and contemporaries. The Library of Congress announced today that Smith has donated this treasure trove of unedited sound recordings to the nation's library.
•••• The list of noted artists and executives is a veritable who's who in the music industry.  They include Artie Shaw, Woody Herman, Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles, Barbra Streisand, Little Richard, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Elton John, Paul Simon, David Bowie, Billy Joel, Sting, Tony Bennett, Joan Baez, James Taylor, Dick Clark, Tina Turner, Tom Jones, B. B. King, Quincy Jones, David Geffen, Mickey Hart, Harry Belafonte and many others.  All types of popular music are represented -- from rock 'n' roll, jazz, rhythm & blues and pop to big-band, heavy metal, folk and country-western.
•••• While president of Capitol Records/EMI, Smith recorded 238 hours of interviews over two years, excerpts of which he compiled and presented in his groundbreaking book, "Off the Record," published by Warner Books in 1988.  These candid and unabridged interviews have been digitized by the Library and initially will be accessible in its Capitol Hill reading room.  Some of the recordings also will be streamed on the Library's website (www.loc.gov) later this year.
•••• The Joe Smith Collection is an invaluable addition to the Library's comprehensive collection of recorded sound," said Librarian of Congress James H. Billington. "These frank and poignant oral histories of many of the nation's musical icons give us unique insights into them as artists, entertainers and human beings.  The world knows these great musicians through their songs, but Joe Smith has provided us an intimate window into their lives through their own words.
•••• "Smith's career in music started in the 1950s at the dawn of the rock 'n' roll era.  Following his graduation from Yale, Smith worked as a sportscaster and later as a disc jockey at WMEX and WBZ in Boston.  He transitioned into record promotions when he moved to Los Angeles in 1960 and rose to legendary status in the industry as president of three major labels&emdash;Warner Bros., Elektra/Asylum and Capitol/EMI.  Smith signed such notable artists as the Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, Van Morrison, Frank Zappa, Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt and the Eagles.
•••• His relationship with the industry's creative community over four decades enabled him to compile a history of popular music by presenting the artists' stories in their own voices.  One critic wrote that "Joe Smith has done what no historian, musician, pop critic or rock writer has been able to do. He's compiled a history of popular music, ranging from the big bands of the '20s to the chart-toppers of today … a paper jukebox that's chock-full of pop."
•••• A couple of decades following the success of his book, Smith (now 84) envisioned sharing his original unabridged interviews with scholars, researchers and the American public. "In recent years, it dawned on me that, if anything, the significance of recollections from Jerry Lee Lewis, Mick Jagger, Smokey Robinson, Ahmet Ertegun, Herb Alpert, Ruth Brown and all the other notables I was fortunate enough to interview, are truly part of the fabric of our cultural history," said Smith. "I wanted to share this treasure trove with any and all who might be interested. The Library of Congress is, clearly, the venue most appropriate and best equipped to do just that now and into the future.  I hope that generations to come will benefit from hearing the voices of these brilliant artists and industry luminaries recounting their personal histories.  I'm just thrilled that the Library of Congress has agreed to preserve and safeguard these audio artifacts."

As an insider, Smith connected with the artists on a personal level, leading to some interesting revelations.

• Bo Diddley talking about his own death
• Mickey Hart's revealing story about his father
• Steven Tyler's problems with drug addiction
• Peter Frampton's short-lived popularity
• Bob Dylan's surprising assessment of the turbulent '60s
• David Bowie's description of Mick Jagger as conservative
• Paul McCartney's frank admission of professional superiority
• Les Paul's creation of an electric guitar in 1929
• Motown's restrictive work environment
• Herb Jeffries' and Dave Brubeck's recollections of working in a racially segregated society

The recordings in the Joe Smith Collection will be housed in the Library's Packard Campus for Audio Visual Conservation in Culpeper, Va., a state-of-the-art facility that was made possible through the generosity of David Woodley Packard and the Packard Humanities Institute, with benefaction from the U.S. Congress.  The Library's Motion Picture, Broadcasting and Recorded Sound Division's collections include nearly 3 million sound recordings.
•••• Founded in 1800, the Library of Congress is the nation's oldest federal cultural institution. The Library seeks to spark imagination and creativity and to further human understanding and wisdom by providing access to knowledge through its magnificent collections, programs and exhibitions. Many of the Library's rich resources can be accessed through its website at www.loc.gov.

101- KCET Relocates Headquarters to Burbank
It was Ribbon-cutting time for KCET
••• Television station KCET last year broke ties with the Public Broadcasting System in a disute over dues, and sold its landmark Hollywood building and lot on Sunset Boulevard to the Church of Scientology for a reported $42 million. Moving to Burbank will help KCET "capture the value" of the sale of its old headquarters said Al Jerome, President and CEO of th sttion. "We can grow," he said, adding the hefty payout from the Church of Scientology means that the sttion is debt-free for 15 years.
••• "KCET will focus on generating more local news and cultural programming," Jerome continued. Also, being near other studios in Burbank will create more opportunities for collaboration, ha added.
••• Now, On April 27, 2012, said tvinews', Josie Cory, (photo-right) "it was ribbon-cutting time at its new headquarters." Its been nearly 50 years in Hollywood, the station moved to the Pointe, a 14-story office tower in Burbank, right next to NBC in the heart of the media district. Taking up 1/2 floors with 55,000 square feet is about half its former size. The Pointe also houses the DC Comics arm of Warner Bros.
••• At this point, no layoffs are planned as a result of the move, according to Jerome. The station employs 125 people.
••• "No disrespect to Burbank, but the (move) hurt," said Los Angeles City Councilman Tom LaBonge." If they wanted to downsize," he added, "Why didn't they go downtown?"
••• The station has been at its Sunset Boulevard site since 1970.
••• A special open house for KCET supporters and the community took place, June 16, 2012.

106- Can Investors & Users Sue Their Boss & Board Members?
Yes It's A Fact that investors, product users, pension funds can sue, as Allergan Inc. investors did in June - 2012. ••• Two pension funds that content the Allergan's board failed to properly oversee executives who marketed Botox for ailments that hadn't been approved by regulators have amassed enough evidence about the illegal sales effort to proceed with their claims, Delaware Chancery Court Judge Travis Laster said.
• On the other side of the coin . . .
A group filed a lawsuit on behalf of the company itself against the executives.
••• The Group filed a lawsuit on behalf of the company itself against the executives. The goal in such cases, known as "derivative actions," is not to reap big financial rewards but to change the way a company is run.
••• The funds own 5.6 million shares of Wal-Mart. The group of New York pension funds is suing current and former Wal-Mart stores Inc. executives, saying they mishandled an alleged bribery scheme at the world's largest retailer.

2012 Style. May-2012. Bogart heirs and Burberry are at odds over the 1942 trench coat image featured in the movie - the 1942 film "Casablanca."

Bogart, which is majority owned by Bogart's children, answered that action by filing a trademark-infringement complaint n Los Angeles. The company seeks a court order preventing Burberry from using Bogart's name and image, and unspecified damages.

The picture was used in a Burberry historical timeline to illustrate the influence of the brand, according to the complaint. Burberry said the image wasn't used to sell merchandise.
•••• "Defendant is attempting to exert and assert against Burberry rights which it does not possess," Burberry said in its complaint. The company said its reference to Bogart in the timeline is protected under the 1st Amendment to the Constitution.
••• Burberry mentions Bogart contacted it in April and ordered it to cease and desist using the image.
••• Bogart then contacted the company at least two other times and "made a significant monetary demand," according to Burberry.

In a threat to the 4th Amendment, law enforcement is using location data as a crime-fighting tool.
Concerned that mobile phone networks are becoming surveillance tools, the American Civil Liberties Union recently asked hundreds of local law enforcement agencies whether they've tracked people's movements through their cellphones. Most of those that responded said they had, usually obtaining the information from mobile phone companies without a warrant. The practice has become so routine, the ACLU found, that phone companies are sending out catalogs of monitoring services with detailed price lists to police agencies. The alarming findings should persuade Congress to clarify that the government can't follow someone electronically without showing probable cause and obtaining a warrants.
USA
•••The Supreme Court has long held that the 4th Amendment guarantee against unreasonable searches and seizures requires police to obtain a warrant if the intrusion would violate a target's "reasonable expectation of privacy." That standard has barred law enforcement agents from surreptitiously recording what people say on the phone without a warrant, even when the conversation is taking place in a public phone booth. But the court and Congress set a significantly lower bar for monitoring other aspects of a phone's use. The government can obtain records about numbers dialed and calls received -- either from the past or live and in real time -- with a subpoena, which a court will grant if shown that the records sought are relevant to an investigation.
Landlines vs WiFi towers
• Mobile phone networks collect another -
type of data that wire-line networks don't: They register a phone's location continuously as long as it's turned on, even when it's not in use. Those records can be exceptionally revealing; as the ACLU put it, the potential insights range "from which friends you're seeing to where you go to the doctor to how often you go to church." Nevertheless, the Justice Department and many local law enforcement agencies view location data as no different from calling records. With the acquiescence of mobile phone carriers, they've been quietly collecting this information through subpoenas, not warrants backed by a showing of probable cause. And in some cases, the subpoenas have been frighteningly broad; for example, one police department sought data on all the mobile phone users in the vicinity of a planned protests.
• $$ The fact that phone companies are collecting fees --
for providing this information raises the additional question of whether their financial interests trump their customers' privacy interests. Looking for an answer, Rep. Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.), co-chairman of the Congressional Bipartisan Privacy Caucus, recently asked the major wireless carriers how much money they've collected from law enforcement agencies and whether they actively market their information-gathering services.
•••Location data can undoubtedly help solve crimes, but there's a broader principle at stake. New technology enables people to trade information about themselves -- sometimes consciously, sometimes not -- for commercial benefits, convenience and insights into the world around them. They agree to share that information with service providers because of the unique benefits it brings -- for example, users of the Roamz app can arrive in an unfamiliar town and see what previous visitors have said online about the best places to eat and stay. But if sharing this information automatically makes it the government's for the asking, what will be left of the 4th Amendment?
• A growing number of courts have been pushing
back against the Justice Department's permissive approach, but the rulings haven't been uniform. Nor are there clear rules to distinguish emergencies from routine investigations, live tracking from the examination of stored data, or mmaarrttsitemaster2006/kudoadstore/Imageskudoad/linkad106logos.gifany of the many other complexities. Rather than trusting judges to sort it all out, Congress should make it clear that the protections that apply to phone conversations also apply to location data. No warrant, no tracking. • Click For More tviStory 106-s90- 106- TheWiTEL-ID-phoneNumber

• 106- NBSWiTEL Bailout For Its EMW Wireless Carriers
• Like a bank, we make loans.
•••But unlike a bank, we're part of nbsWiTEL.com. Before it became a DotCom company we were, and still are that same NBS Wireless Telephone Company of America, established in 1902, that invented and delveloped the EMW technology that helps move, cure, power and link the world with its nbsWiTEL phone numbers.
•••So not only can we provide smart financing, we can also offer access to the insights and bet practices of nbsWiTEL.com to make that financing work harder. Chances are we have the expertise you need to make your company more competitive - and we're happy to share. Stop just banking. And start building. NbsWiTEL.com works.
• NBS bailout of a few of "nbsWiTEL.com Users --
may net an estimated $20.1-billion profit for its Collection Group, PSI.
The estimate depends on the timing - of the monthly payment of the debt owed by each U.S.A. and FCC approved carrier. nbsWiTEL.com said the profit projection did not factor in the nbsWiTEL.com cost to subsidize each Carrier's "WiTEL debt during the last few years; that cost was not calculated.
• The nbsWiTEL.com -
•••forecast followed the nbsWiTEL.com decision to further reduce its ownership stake in its Account Receivable Assets.
•••The report came as nbsWiTEL.com this week continued to wind down its stake in WiTEL phone numbers handling its own Collection deal it has with PSI, and its Speedollars.com system.
Financial execs have a forward-thinking strategy
/Imageslogos/0-SpeedolarsLogoLink108w.jpg• WiTEL.com's arrangement with PSI's Speedollars.com program will help kick off the TeleKey Code systems multimillion-dollar effort to iBond its affiliates. The iBond concept is dubbed "the Global Creative Investment Program" -- to form ventures with its TeleCom carriers, and other tech-savvy entrepreneurs in the WiTEL.com business.
• "VRA TelePlay" - TroyCoryShow.com whose global WebPlay makes it a popular KudoClick site, is looking to tap into hot young talent to remain relevant and connect to a new generation of consumers.
• "There's a new social contract emerging between media companies, and on-line entrepreneurs using $peedollar$," Troy Cory said. "The challenge comes in creating a structure that is open to opportunity in the midst of a discombobulation of everything we've ever known."
• A side by side look at "WiTEL.com" and "Speedollars.com" seem an unlikely couple. Their first connection took place 9 years years ago, when "LookRadio.com" became a streaming video hit in China and PSI's $peedollar$.com was a whippersnapper payment plan for Internet users.
•••The nbsWiTEL.com said it has been offered by outside financial institutions, to buy $5.75 billion worth of outstanding invoices.
•• Pacific Sunrise International officials propose to convert their Account Receivables into iBonds, according to the documents, which are included in the agenda materials.
••• The proposal would allow the Franchised Carriers to take a loan of up to 80% of any and all cost for its $5.00 per month per nbsWiTEL phone number assigned to its WiTEL users . . . to help cover expenses. It's unclear how the nbsWiTEL.com Franchised Carrier would pay it back -- if the loan and interest could not be repaid within 10 years -- would nbsWiTEL.com or the FCC be able to resell the Franchise by Auction?
••• The iBond proposal is separate from the $5.00 per monthly Invoice for each WiTEL®™© TeleKey area Code phone number assigned to users. TeleCom industry experts following the iBond concept will give virtually all the benefits to the WiTEL®™© TeleKey area Code user, with the blessings of the FCC. The value of of each NBS WiTEL franchise assigned 1-Million WiTEL®™© TeleKey area Code phone number -- is valued at $5-Billion each, according to PSI.
••• Under the proposed lease, PSI's financial backer would fund about $45-Billion in Bank Guarantees. PSI is seeking control of the U.S.A. operations for a total of 99 years.
•••The iBond sale would reduce the nbsWiTEL.com debt holdings to about $45 billion, with another financial group holding an additional $5 billion in complicated loans secured by a bank guarantee.
•••One financial group said they hoped to recover all the iBond loans money given to NBSWiTEL affiliates during the life of their iBond for Cash agreement.
•••"When all the assistance is considered, the amount the nbsWiTEL.com, and its iBond for Cash partners ultimately take in could exceed the total support extended to the nbsWiTEL.com affiliates by more than $15.1 billion per month," the webusersguild.com watchdog agency reported.
•••Unlike banks, however, there is no insurance for the security -- and replacement -- of our digital stuff. Although nearly every provider's terms read differently, one thing remains the same. They all tell you explicitly they are not responsible for any loss of mmaarrttsitemaster2006/kudoadstore/Imageskudoad/linkad106logos.gifWiTEL®™© phone numbers. http://smart90.com/pacificsunrise.org/ Cick For More tviStory 106-s90- 106- NBSWiTEL Bailout For Its EMW Wireless Carriers

The expanding cloud storage space business got more crowded as Google launched its much-rumored and highly anticipated remote storage service, Drive.
•••Cloud-based storage gives users a place to park their documents, photos, presentations and other files so they can easily and immediately access and share them with various digital devices wherever they have an Internet connection.
•••But Google said its Drive service also gives users the ability to collaboratively edit documents in real time. As expected, the service also integrates search capabilities -- by keyword, file type, author and image.
•••"Google Drive is significant because now all Google account holders have one-click sign-up to free file storage, sync and sharing, which has the potential to quickly build a large volume of users," said Frank Gillette, an analyst with Forrester Research.
• Google's offering is the latest in --
the burgeoning role of cloud computing, he said.
•••"Integration with Google Docs/Apps and eventually with Gmail will make it more natural and seamless than managing from a separate account. The most interesting thing is integrated search within major file types, not just by title. So Google Drive will cause more individuals to begin using personal cloud services and more companies, those that use Google Apps, to use cloud-based file sync and sharing."
•••The service goes head to head with established popular services such as DropBox and SugarSync. Google Drive users will get access to 5 gigabytes of storage free of charge, as they do with SugarSync and Box. DropBox, however, offers 2 gigabytes free of charge. Users can pay for more storage, from 25 gigabytes for $2.49 a month up to 1 terabyte for $49.99 a month.
•••"It's an insanely exciting time in the cloud storage and collaboration space, and Google's entry underscores the importance of this multibillion-dollar category," said Box co-founder and Chief Executive Aaron Levie. Box serves 10 million personal users.
•••Levie said Google's new service, which is mainly targeting consumers, is not expected to compete directly with Box, which is focused on providing secure cloud storage for businesses.
•••DropBox said in a statement that it is focused only on providing personal cloud storage services, which it said it does "better than anyone else."
•••"Companies of all shapes and sizes have tossed in their hats over the years, but we've stayed ahead by building the best possible experience and making a product that millions of people love," said a DropBox spokesman.
•••DropBox founder Drew Houston had a more direct, sarcastic response on Twitter: "In other news, @Dropbox is launching a search engine. :)"
mmaarrttsitemaster2006/kudoadstore/Imageskudoad/linkad106logos.gif Google said its remote storage drive will work like a folder on both Windows- and Mac- based computers. "An application for Android-based smartphones and tablets is available, with one for Apple's iPhone and iPad in the works," the company said. • Click For More tviStory 106-s90- 106- Smart90StoresInfoOnCloud

mmaarrttsitemaster2006/kudoadstore/Imageskudoad/linkad106logos.gif Silicon Valley finds Washington regulators uncomfortably close.
•••Google is the latest tech giant to be investigated by regulators and lawmakers.
•••This isn't the first time that Silicon Valley has found itself in regulatory cross hairs. In 2006 Hewlett-Packard, the standard-bearer of business ethics symbolized by the "HP Way," tried to plug leaks to the media by spying on the private phone records of board members and news reporters.
•••At the same time, Apple was just one of more than 100 companies, many in Silicon Valley, that were suspected of rigging stock options to sweeten the paychecks of executives and employees. -- The episodes helped reinforce Silicon Valley's reputation for bending -- if not breaking -- the rules. •••Team Telecom's review of China Mobile's application is complicated by the fact that two other Chinese government-owned firms, China Telecom and China Unicom, were granted similar licenses in 2002 and 2003, respectively, well before Chinese cyber espionage was viewed as a pressing concern. 106- Yahoo Vs Facebook
Yahoo adds two patent suits to legal fight with Facebook.
•••Yahoo is escalating the hostilities and the stakes in its increasingly acrimonious patent battle with Facebook.
•••In papers filed in San Francisco federal court, the Internet search company expanded its lawsuit against Facebook to include two more charges of intellectual property theft. It now claims Facebook is infringing on 12, rather than 10, of Yahoo's patents.
•••"The filing underscores the scope of Facebook's violation of Yahoo's intellectual property," a Yahoo spokesman said in an emailed statement.
•••As to Yahoo's filing of the suit against Facebook, the lawsuit raised eyebrows in Silicon Valley, where companies often use patents to defend themselves, but not to go after each other so as to avoid stifling innovation. Facebook countersued, claiming Yahoo was infringing on its patents.
•••Yahoo denied claims that it was infringing on 10 of Facebook's patents and accused Facebook of engaging in unfair tactics. It said Facebook violated an agreement between the two companies to notify each other of possible patent infringements before going to court.
•••"We remain perplexed by Yahoo's erratic actions. We disagree with these latest claims and we will continue to defend ourselves vigorously," a Facebook spokesman said in an emailed statement.
•••The patent battle is unfolding against the dramatic backdrop of Facebook's pending initial public stock offering that is expected to be the largest in Silicon Valley history.
•••Facebook has been adding patents to fortify its portfolio against attacks. It paid Microsoft $550 million for patents from AOL and bought hundreds more from IBM. It has warned investors that an "unfavorable outcome" in the patent dispute with Yahoo could damage its business.
•••"Yahoo wants to show to Facebook that escalation always goes both ways," said intellectual property blogger Florian Mueller. "And it tries to make Facebook's counterclaims look dubious and weak, with a view not only to the court but also the general public and existing or prospective Facebook investors."

The pictorials published in the Book demonstrate the purpose of elements and effects first developed, registered, demonstrated, and published by: NATHAN B. STUBBLEFIELD, of MURRAY, KENTUCKY.
•••The primary purpose of N.B. Stubblefield's public Wireless Telephone®™© demonstrations was to sell territorial deeds throughout the U.S.A. to connect the user of the land-line telephone to moving vehicles, such as the smartphone we use in today's world of mobile phone subscribers. His Wireless Telephone Company of America gave permission to his NBS licensed Corporate TeleCom WiTEL®™© carriers to broadcast and receive voice -- with or without his 7-digit TeleKey Area Code connecting system.
••• Since that time, (1892 to 2012), Nathan's grandson, Troy Cory-Stubblefield, the CEO of the NBS organization, has validated the laws imposed on by the FCC, and sovereign nations to control TeleCom EMW spectrum, and frequencies.

The five chapters of WiTEL facts, and true-life adventures of one of the most unsung inventors in history, whose revolutionary innovations have effected every human being on the planet over the last three generations! Based on the true story of inventor and part-time melon farmer Nathan B. Stubblefield's (and subsequently his grandson Troy Cory's) battle with the government and U.S. telephone industry.
••• "Firewire" tells the tale of two very different men from two very different eras who share not only the same blood, but the same fight - whose battle to receive recognition for the invention of the wireless telephone would come at a heavy price. But the determined small-town inventor and the impassioned big-city entertainer both refused to be silenced, and they took on the rural backstabbers and the corporate titans alike in a battle that nobody thought either could win.
••The Stubblefields started out as a typical 1880's Kentucky family, trying to live their version of the American Dream, but ended up as anything but! When Nathan invents a unique device that he prophesied would eventually be used by nearly everyone in the world -- he was not far from wrong. Decades later, when his grandson learns that it was his relative who indeed invented the wireless phone, Cory thinks he's struck gold. But his aspirations are dashed after the telephone monopolies and political pirates who initially seized Stubblefield's creation as their own are just as determined to shut out his descendant decades later, as well.
•••Ignored, threatened and then buried in years of struggle, Cory is haunted by what was done to his family. He becomes a man obsessed with justice and the conviction that his grandfather's life work -- or for that matter, anyone's work -- be acknowledged by those who stood to benefit. And while paying the toll for refusing to compromise his dignity, this everyday David will try the unthinkable: to strategically bring Goliath to his knees in a cooperation with truth and justice for all. --Donna Jeffries
• "You don't get to bust through the
airwaves without catching a little static
••• Across the landscape of the American Industrial Revolution, within the field of urban electrification and communication, the legacy of prominent inventors such as George Westinghouse, Thomas Edison, and Alexander Graham Bell stand proud. Their achievements celebrated, their status recognized. But they do not stand alone. Concealed by the shadows of history, and even more by the deviousness of corrupt men in power, is the figure of Nathan B. Stubblefield, a contemporary of those great men and one of that era's most innovative and prolific inventors..
••• At the time of his death in 1928, Stubblefield had been granted dozens of patents, mostly relating to electrical and wireless technologies. His inventions completely revolutionized the world of communications that we know today, yet not many people even know his name. With over 5.6 billion wireless phones in use today - there's no denying, wireless technology has irreversibly changed the world..
••• This story will open your eyes and challenge what you think you know about not only your cell phone, but the challenges and the victories that brought these innovations to us in the first place. More importantly, it gives us insight into the human tragedy and triumph that was and still is a part of the reality of our most innovative technological pioneers today in America. ---Donna Jeffries

Along with Bob Roberts, Ralph Freed, Tip Tobin and Dorothy Swafford, we wrote "Rinky Rou RAW," "There's No Fool Like a Young Fool," "Torture," "Tall Paul," "Little Pink Toe," and many others in 1959, and the early 60s. 115- Le Festival De Cannes, France, May 16-27 - Celebrates its 65th Edition and joins ranks with Sean Penn. By Josie Cory
Ever since its creation, the Festival de Cannes has remained faithful to its founding purpose: to draw attention to and raise the profile of films with the aim of contributing towards the development of cinema, boosting the film industry worldwide and celebrating cinema at an international level.
••• Thierry Frémaux , chief of the Cannes Film Festival as well as managing director of the Institut Lumière de Lyon, recently stated, "Cannes belongs to each and every one of us who, year after year, from wherever we are and in our own individual way, contributes towards creating it step by step. It is only by constantly analyzing the Festival, adapting its function and encouraging debate about it that we will continue to make it the very best it can be. Cannes must be open to new ideas, while remaining faithful to its past, of course. Diversity can only enrich it. That´s what makes the Festival de Cannes our festival."
•••This year, the Festival de Cannes welcomes Haiti: Carnival in Cannes, a benefit event presented by Giorgio Armani in support of Sean Penn's J/P HRO, Paul Haggis' Artists for Peace and Justice and Petra Nemcova's Happy Heart's Fund for their united and extraordinary work in Haiti.
••• To help them carry out their extraordinary work and to pay tribute to their tireless humanitarian activities, the Festival de Cannes is hosting a gala fund raising event in support of the Haitian cause. This event is the first of its kind for the Festival de Cannes, since the benefit screening of Il était une fois, l'Amérique by Sergio Leone in 1984 in support of the Institut Pasteur, and the screening of Paolo and Vittorio Taviani's film Elective Affinities in 1996, in support of the reconstruction of the Fenice.
••• Sean Penn has a very close connection with the Festival de Cannes, having presented films in Competition (including The Pledge in 2001, which he directed) and in Un Certain Regard, and he served as President of the Jury in 2008.
••• The Festival de Cannes is very proud to join ranks with Sean Penn, Paul Haggis and Petra Nemcova in their fight to help Haiti and its inhabitants.
••• Gilles Jacob commented, "People say that a great actor is by nature egocentric, and that a great director is focussed on his art. Sean Penn is both a great actor and director. What he does above and beyond that for the people and the land of Haiti, giving freely of himself, his abiding presence, his work &endash; one could almost say the work of his own hands &endash; his whole discreet, human, moral and altruistic involvement as a benefactor, commands our greatest respect."
••• Thierry Fremaux commented, "Sean Penn is a good friend of the Festival de Cannes, he came in Competition as an actor and as a director, he was President of the Jury. But it is not the only reason why we offered to receive him. We are greatly fascinated by his permanent and long-lasting commitment to Haiti's recovery. And we are very pleased to be a part of this evening which intends to raise money and honor the Haitians themselves."
••• Giorgio Armani added, "I am proud to stand alongside Sean Penn, a man cut from a very rare cloth. He first captivated me as an astonishing actor. Then as a respected director. Then as a loyal friend. And now, as a life changer. It is an honor to be a part of Sean's remarkable life of service by joining his humanitarian efforts for the people of Haiti. For this to come to fruition at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival marks a career milestone for me, and demonstrates what happens when you work with Sean, a world-class force of nature."

107- SAG-AFTRA vs HOLLYWOOD - TV-FILM Studios
(the AFTRA-SAG Merger)
A Web Users Guild.com Report http://webusersguild.com/

/_aftrasaglogos200w.jpg• WILL THE HOLLYWOOD FILM-TV STUDIO Industry be able to handle the new monetary demands just created by the merger of SAG-AFTRA? AFTRA was created in 1935, and SAG -- 1933.
Creating Hollywood's largest entertainment union was easy this time around. Members of both unions voted overwhelmingly to combine into a single bargaining unit.
Before March 30, 2012, the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) was a stand alone labor union representing over 105,000 film and television principals and background performers worldwide.
••• AFTRA has about 70,000 members who are actors as well as singers, dancers, disc jockeys, sports announcers, comedians and broadcast journalists, among others. About 40,000 people hold membership in both labor groups. The historic vote comes nearly two years after union leaders began discussions to merge in a bid to gain more leverage in contract negotiations with studios and to end a long history of jurisdictional disputes and feuding over negotiating strategy.
• The new SAG-AFTRA Union will total more than 150,000 members.
••• National officers, including the president and secretary-treasurer, would be elected directly by members. However, some other positions, such as an executive vice president, would be elected by delegates at a convention held every two years -- a concession to AFTRA's tradition of using conventions and delegates. SAG elects its officers directly by a vote of members.
Members including television, radio, cable, sound recordings, music videos, commercials, audio books, non-broadcast industrials, interactive games, internet, and other digital media&emdash;have been moving forward together with the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. Here are some of the events and milestones that helped define AFTRA.

•••• CBS News chairman, Jeff Fager announced another revamping of the network's morning strategy.
•••• Effective Jan. 9, the PBS interviewer Charlie Rose will join anchor Erica Hill for the 7 a.m. "The Early Show," the network's long-suffering morning news broadcast.
•••• Rose has had a long-running relationship with CBS News. In 1999, he joined 60 Minutes II as a correspondent and still does occasional pieces for 60 Minutes.
•••• "It's been tough in the morning at CBS,"Mr. Fager acknowledged. "A lot of times we replaced people without really re-thinking from the ground up" about the structure of the broadcast. 101 -TCScloseUp-TakeTwo.htm. A few years ago, I wrote a D-Diary memo identifying long-term barriers to permanent transformation of the Service Mark Collections.
••• Since that time I've written a lot of memos and direct story about the transparent fraudulent activities created by those certain rule makers over the years in preparation for the collection of monies now all due and payable by Telco organizations. To prevent Lawsuits, and any misunderstanding between existing Telcos, the Library of Congress, the USPTO, FTC, and FCC, the new series of TVInews articles, "CloseUps," and Take2, was prepared at the request of the WTQCA association. That's something that never would have happened before the Monetary Crash of 2008. More Story @ s90Brief/#101-TCScloseUp-TakeTwo

••• But no president could completely alter the DNA of the goodtime Charlies of Wall Street. Permanent reform will take much longer, and it will happen only if the President can continue to drive the mandate down to the financial, foreign trade, and health industries, where there are still holdouts itching to reverse course.
••• Pres. Obama will leave behind a blueprint, but in some ways the next President will have a more difficult job. He or she will need determination to make the changes stick, a deep knowledge of th U.S.A. culture, the ability to win the buy-in the middle class consumer and the courage to touch less on the problems created by Unions and their issues.

••• Ambros Seelos, and Troy Cory shown in photo, collaborated on a host of original songs recorded in Munich. The Ambros Seelos Orchestra featured Sylvester Levay, Grammy winner for "Fly Robin, Fly," who later had great success with his musical "Elisabeth," and was the co-writer with Troy, and Ambros on Troy's BBC recordings, "Hurricane," "Hey, Sweet Honey, Honey," and "Relax."
••• During the last two decades of Troy Cory's China concert tours, Ambros Seelos delivered the big-band background sound for many of Troy's TV-stage performances, "Jeepers Creepers" being a favorite amongst the Chinese audiences.
••• Back in 1972 Ambros was chosen as the official band for the Olympic Games in Munich. Having toured the whole world, he also performed together with giants of Jazz like Louis Armstrong, Count Basie and Ella Fitzgerald, Grammy-winning Hollywood film composer and musical writer Sylvester Levay ("Hot Shots," "Airwolf," "Elisabeth,") who also worked as a producer for the living music legends Elton John and Donna Summer. ••• I still felt that same glow almost 20 years later while viewing the 2008, Beijing Olympics. Troy Cory, and his Brooke Sisters were incandescent . . . and there was a magic to all of the excitment that came together with sound, music, and rythm.
••• Why would Troy Cory be so indelible in my mind as the first U.S. singer/perforner to ever appear on nation-wide CCTV? Why would Joey Lauren Adams, one of the four Brooke Sisters be remembered by over 300 million TV-viewers? Easy, they were the first to ever appear on a Communist-country stage, Troy, the lead TV-singer, performer, Joey, the blonde movie star. The indelibility of those characters! It's a great, emotional piece of work put together by two nations for reason only known to them. •••• The September 18th - 2011 event had everyone wondering . . . were they auditioning future Academy award winners at Sunday's 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards presentation? Or was the show a preview of next year's Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Oscar Event.
•• TV show greats all the way from "The Dave Letterman Show," and "Jay Leno" to "60 Minutes," and "20/20" didn't exactly make the winners list, did they?
••• In fact, primetime TV-shows and their television stars were not even mentioned.
• The Reasons? • Television programing --
seems to be all about movie look-alikes, and a "Blacklist." Movie Actors & Actresses vs TV Performers? . . . "Why pay . . . when you can see it "free" . . . as a "mini-series" or a "Movie of the Week!"

• 101-114 Actor Cliff Robinson Dies - 88. Blacklisted By Industry For Whistleblowing.
•••It was in 1977, that TV star Cliff Robertson's Show Biz Career took an unexpected twist. It was right after he received an IRS form for "miscellaneous income" that indicated that Columbia Pictures had paid him $10,000 the previous year. Robertson, however, hadn't done any work for Columbia that year and had not received $10,000 from the studio.
••• After asking his accountant to look into it, Robertson learned that a check for $10,000 had been made out to him and had been cashed at a bank in Beverly Hills. The endorsed check, bearing Robertson's forged signature, had been processed and paid out in American Express travelers' checks to the president of Columbia Studios, David Begelman.
•••••• The ensuing Begelman embezzlement scandal, came to symbolize Hollywood corruption, as chronicled in David McClintick's 1982 bestseller "Indecent Exposure: A True Story of Hollywood and Wall Street."

101 - "Christmas Around The World- The Movie" • "JUST IN THE NICK OF TIME." The princess of a small kingdom with less than a half-million countrymen . . . read in the Holy Book on how important it was to have a VISION for her fifty square mile domain. So with FAITH and decisiveness . . . the little princes took "ACTION." SHE hired local monasteries to help her come up with a few pieces of artistic religious artifacts and storylines that would excite the local gentry, surrounded by a forest full of pine trees.
• She delivered the Masterpieces to them. --
. . . But rather than becoming excited they acted like godless heathans, thinking "so what?" She felt frustrated, angrry and disappointed all of which she did her best to conceal.
• It Was Her D-Diaries That Reveled The Method She Used . . . to light the fire of excitement to the World?

<102g - stubtelephondelgreen108w.jpg September, 2009 / 102g - The Birthplace of the Wireless Telephone®™©, and its NBS Wireless Telephone®™© registered service marks.
••• The NBS Wireless Telephone®™© organization, founded in Murray, Kentucky, doesn't manufacture the present-day Wireless Telephone®™© . . . "BUT DOES MAKE the iPhone and CellPhones of today WORK," says Troy Cory-Stubblefield.
••• As chief executive of the NBS WiTEL®™© organization, Troy Cory-Stubblefield closely watches over the way the effects and elements of his NBS WiTEL®™© organization are used and paid for by Telco providers, and users.
••• Underlining each and every Wireless Telephone®™© sold today . . . is a NBS WiTEL®™© service mark utilized by iPhone, and Cellphone provider/users. Charging high-tech batteries by its NBS EMW induction system, or being assigned a WiTEL®™© phone number to connect each WiTEL®™© user together are just a couple of the elements. The NBS Wireless Telephone®™© was invented and developed at Teléph-on-délgreen Industrial School, Murray, Kentucky, commencing in 1892.
stubtelephondelgreen300w.jpg••• The once upon a time Kentucky industrial school . . . is once again star-crossed. But this time, with a happy ending. Murray, Kentucky touts itself as the birthplace of the Wireless Telephone®™©, and with ample reason. Taking a throwback to 1907, the Nathan B. Stubblefield Industrial School was renamed to Teléph-on-délgreen, and again several decades later to emerge at same location as Murray State University.
••• Still a humbling sense of history so deep-seated that residents often rattle off dates: 1892, 1898, 1902, then 1908. That year symbolizes the granting of all of the Service Marks needed for Murray's monopoly of the Wireless Telephone®™©. 1910, was the year NBS' Teléph-on-délgreen WiTel construction began in a big way. The years 1910 through 1914 also marks the time of great change in American RF WiTEL®™© industry. The managerial side of industry was growing and American corporations were reorganizing and becoming more efficient with the help of the U.S. government,.
••• 1914, the NBSWireless Telephone®™© manufacturing ends, and one-way listening devices Radios, begins. With the enachment of Government regulatory RF seizures. Teléph-on-délgreen's NBS WiTel®™© EMW etherwave pipeline is replaced with a new word -- "RF," and "RADIO." (see Mann-Elkins Act of 1910, and the 1913 "Kingsbury Commitment).
NBSPatent02AutoDraw108w.jpg••• The years 1907, 1929, and 2008 are all asscociated with the great depressions, followed by years of growth of the fabled Murray State University, NBS WiTEL®™©, AT&T, GE, and now -- the free for all Internet user.
••• No mater how you look at it, many obserers believe it's just a matter of time before lawmakers step in to decide once and for all who calls the shots for the "freebie" EMWs provided by the 1907 Wireless Telephone®™© service marks. Will the winner be the Telco operator, online users, or the rules of laws set forth in writting to protect service mark owners?

102-Verizon ProfitDoubles With The SmartPhone. • The WUG4 group reported that Verizon Profit doubled on Increase in SmartPhone Sales
•••Verizon Wireless third-quarter earnings rose to $1.38 billion, from $659 million, or 23 cents, a year earlier.
•••Sales climbed 5.4 % to $27.9 billion, matching the average analyst projection. The third-quarter three-month period ended Sept. 31., Verizon said. Verizon shares closed up 0,9% to $37.42.
••• Contributing to Verizon's increased performance was a jump in smartphone sales- users and on its network with 882,000 new wireless-contract customers.

•- How can this be, considering that much of the merchandise we use daily come from CHINA?
•- Foreign-made products are most prevalent among so-called durable goods, such as cars, furniture and appliances. About one-third of all durable goods Americans purchased last year were made abroad; 12% came from China.

106-First Come - First Serve Patent Law Signed By Obama / WASHINGTON - Congress has given the U.S. patent system its first major overhaul since the age of the transistor radio by passing legislation designed to spur innovation and provide a sorely needed boost to the job market.

106- Recording Artist Copyright Collections -1978 • 106-ArtistCopyrightClaims • The same old song? The same old article?
••• Recording artists' copyright royalties of the 60s, 70s, and 80s are so complex that the courts may have to settle fights case by case in Artist vs. Publishers vs. defunt Record companies, and their takeovers.
••• The federal copyright law that went into effect in 1978 gave song writers, recording artist, and musician union members a chance to reclaim their rights to a work 35 years after they sold them. Whether musicians and songwriters can exercise that option, however, is in dispute. Many bands and solo acts have signed contracts since then that declare them ineligible to reclaim their recordings.
••• Most songwriters signed long-term contracts with music publishers before 1978 that their publishers say are controlled by the previous federal law, which prevents copyrights from being reclaimed for 56 years. The Copyright Office has tried to resolve the latter dispute, but it acknowledged that the final say may have to come from Congress.
••• The new U.S.A. Copyright law gives the author of an original work a lot of control over how their creations can be exploited. But because their expertise usually is in creating works, not wringing money out of them, they typically assign their rights to publishers in exchange for a cut of the sales.

106-TVCopyrightLawTargeted"Bad" -- An arcane but critical copyright law is under attack by a key government agency.
•- The U.S. Copyright Office, which advises Congress on copyright issues, is proposing that lawmakers phase out the cable and satellite statutory licenses in the Copyright Act, calling it "an artifact of an earlier era."
•- The so-called compulsory license, established in 1976, allows cable and satellite operators to distribute broadcast television signals in return for paying a one-size-fits-all copyright fee to the Copyright Royalty Tribunal (CRT). The CRT then distributes the fees to copyright holders such as Hollywood studios and sports leagues and local television stations. Each year, the CRT collects tens of millions of dollars in fees that it distributes to rights holders.
•- For example, if a Los Angeles TV station is carried by a multichannel video programming distributor (MVPD) outside the Southern California area, that MVPD pays a fee to the CRT. If the distant signal portion of the act was gone, the MVPD would go to the individual suppliers of the programing to negotiate an agreement, a much more costly and tedious process.
•- One company watching this closely will be Tribune, the parent of the Los Angeles Times and owner of WGN, a local TV station that is carried nationally by MVPDs and hence would be most affected by any change to the distant signal part of the act.
•- The Copyright Office suggested that after the Distant Signal rules were gutted, Congress could then consider how to gradually eliminate the local rules. More Story @ SmartBriefs 106-s90 • Legal

111- Troy TVInews100-108 - Back then, in the pre-Obama era, I and my many D-Diary memos would have been summarily shredded. But under Pres. Obama, not only is outside criticism invited, he assigned himself as the chief salesman to work through the issues. While the road to permanent transformation stretches a long way in front of us, there is a key reason that we are on it at all.
••• Pres. Obama has been an extraordinary leader who has recast the White House's approach to governing. In my opinion, and with a talented team, a determined federal judge and an unusually capable Congress, Pres. Obama will accomplished a remarkable turnaround of a government that had defied all previous interventions to rein in its both Pro and Con Hot Topic behavior.

114 -October 5, 2011 - Steve Jobs' Death -- The Effects On People Around The World .
• October 6, 2011 - WHEN APPLE, INC. ANNOUNCED THAT Mr. Jobs had passed away, Newspapers around the globe paid homage to the U.S. legendary computer genius. To many of us who followed the "Mac path" -- it seems like loosing a friend. He touched so many lives with his innovation and vision that we can't help but ask ourselves, "Will the tech world ever be the same without Jobs?
••• Much is going to be written about this extraordinary man, so here are just a few highlights in his own words.

• TASTE AND TECHNOLOGY (ca. 1996)
"Ultimately it comes down to taste. It comes down to trying to expose yourself to the best things that humans have done and then try to bring those things in to what you're doing. I mean Picasso had a saying, he said good artists copy, great artists steal. And we have always been shameless about stealing great ideas, and I think part of what made the Macintosh great was that the people working on it were musicians and poets and artists and zoologists and historians who also happened to be the best computer scientists in the world...

•••• Adrian Lyne's "Flashdance" with Jennifer Beals from 1983 is one of the films. So is "Top Gun" with Tom Cruise, the 1986 film that Moroder worked on with director Tony Scott. Moroder won Best Song Oscars for both of these two films. Another film from 1983 is a modern gangland classic: Brian de Palma's "Scarface" with Al Pacino playing Tony Montana.
•••• Two other famous films that Moroder collaborated on with Paul Schrader are also in the section: "American Gigolo" with Richard Gere from 1980 and "Cat People" with Nastassja Kinski from 1982. Moroder's 1984 version of Fritz Lang's silent classic "Metropolis" influenced countless video clips and features music by Freddie Mercury, Adam Ant and Bonnie Tyler.
•••• Giorgio Moroder's music will be highlighted at many of this year's anniversary events. The Munich Sound that became world famous in the Disco era will be revisited by musicians and DJs. After the Filmfest opening night party, DJ Mirko Hecktor (the publisher of "Mjunik Disco") will be laying down beats in the nightclub of the Bayerischer Hof Hotel. The DJ duo "KILL THE TILLS" (Amédée and Milen Till), will be on hand at the closing night bash at the festival center, which is open to one and all.

Todd Haynes Retrospective: Rock Stars & Cult Films
•••• MUNICH, Germany -- The American Indie star will be in Munich for a retrospective of his work at the 30th FILMFEST, showcasing one of the most significant filmmakers from the Indie scene. Director Todd Haynes will present the retrospective of his films in person. "Todd Haynes is one of the most interesting and most experimental filmmakers in the USA," according to festival director Diana Iljine. "Having him here in Munich will be one of the highlights of this year's festival."
•••• Todd Haynes is best known for films like I'M NOT THERE (2007) on the life of Bob Dylan, VELVET GOLDMINE (1998), a homage to David Bowie and the era of Glam Rock, and MILDRED PIERCE (2011) starring Kate Winslet, the mini-series which won five Emmys.
•••• Haynes, who was born in Los Angeles in 1961, is also a writer and producer and has always liked to experiment with narrative structure. He became known early on as a particularly innovative filmmaker. One of his first films SUPERSTAR: THE KAREN CARPENTER STORY (1987) is listed as one of the 50 best cult films of all time. The 43 minute film focuses on the life of Karen Carpenter of the pop duo The Carpenters by using Barbie dolls. His first feature-length film POISON won Haynes the 1991 Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival.
•••• FAR FROM HEAVEN, his 1950s melodrama starring Julianne Moore and Dennis Quaid, which was nominated for 4 Academy Awards, was the most successful independent production of 2002 and won numerous other awards. In his anti-biopic I'M NOT THERE, he cast six actors as the legendary musician (among them Cate Blanchett, Richard Gere and Heath Ledger).
•••• FILMFEST MÜNCHEN discovered the exceptional director fairly early in his career and screened his second feature SAFE in 1995.
•••• Todd Haynes will be coming to Munich with his cameraman of long standing, Edward Lachman. Lachman will be member of the ARRI Award jury that selects the best non-German film of the festival.
•••• Haynes will be in the festival center's Black Box for FILMMAKERS LIVE to answer questions from the press and the public. CLICK FOR MORE 115-MunichFilmFest • June-July - 30th FilmFest MÜnchen / • CLICK FOR Filmfest-Muenchen.de - Direct / • CLICK FOR MORE Munich FilmFest 115-S90 tviNews
